  1. This nutshell just exposes the problems with all of us.
We all want justice when it happens to others.
But the ground is level at the Cross of Christ. All can come for redemption and all who don’t will eventually have judgement. But pointing out sins of others is a fine line as we all are sinners and our sins is why Christ came to die because of them.
But we are also suppose to speak Truth to power and speak up to for those who can’t speak for themselves. But we get all judgy and self righteous when we think we haven’t sinned as bad as someone else haha. Christ compares us with His standards not with all the broken humans around us.
We see so much on social media of calling out others issues but forget we have our own.
It is a good thing we are not in charge. Lol

  2. Good one today as usual! Keep up the great work. Love everything you put out. You got a Gift. Thank you very much for doing this.

  3. I am laughing so hard right now because it just sounds so much like what I do. When I see people getting what they deserve, I’m so happy. Thanks for sharing the verses. Darn! I saw a tweet this morning that was showing some people grabbing bear cubs out of a tree to get pictures with it. I don’t know what all happened, but I had hoped that the mama bear would have come out and given them their just desserts. Just so sickening what people do to get a picture or just to prove that they’re something special. Makes me sad.

Hope you’re having a good day. Thanks for the sermon.

  4. Well, let me be the first to leave a comment on your most recent sermon! Yes, it makes me think a bit introspectively…maybe not at the point of gloating over the destruction of my enemies at this moment, but I’ve been in kind of a slump over the fact that those whom I have poured my life into (a few) don’t seem to be producing all the fruit I had hoped! But then, maybe I haven’t waited long enough, or invested enough…or maybe, could God possibly be trying to show me something? Maybe I need to be humble (or at least more humble), take my share of suffering, or take a longer view…things I haven’t seen beyond MY terms! So, LORD, PLEASE DON”T EVER LET ME GLOAT OVER DIFFICULTIES OF ANY FAITHFUL SISTER OR BROTHER! AND HELP ME MEASURE OUT THE GRACE THAT I NEED MYSELF! Anyway, I smile and respond in my heart to your humorous way of being so honest! Your openness makes me want to respond in writing, and this is my second time!

    1. Hi Patrice! wow yer a feather in my cap! thanks for the kudos… and yes we’re a mess most of the time.. wait till you here the next “Prayer You Won’t Hear In Church” I doing new ones not in the book. at least the mess keeps me talkin to God for reals!

  5. OK. so a while back we kinda went over this in our fellowship. While I don’t believe we should celebrate someone’s demise, I have to ask myself to whom are the passages referring?
Enemies based on faith or the lack of? Or enemies such as those who wish to put us out of our misery just because we exist? Proverbs 25:21-23
21 If your enemies are hungry, give them food to eat. If they are thirsty, give them water to drink. 22 You will heap burning coals of shame on their heads, and the LORD will reward you.
So I see it every day here. While the world is angry at the lack of humanitarian effort here and, total misinformation going there, we supply water, food, electricity, gas, and jobs for those who want nothing more than to wipe us off the map. So does Proverbs fit here?
Matthew 5:38-40 You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well.
So yeah, I guess some things are in God’s hand. That’s a really heavy subject when you did in. Whew. Billy Joel sang the song.. “Only the good die young” Think about that for a moment. Sorry for the rant.

    1. man you just opened a can of worms.. yea.. I’ll have to think about that.. when do we fight back… I don’t think we’re supposed to lay down in dangerous circumstances if someone is trying to kill you.. that’s a bridge too far.

  6. My Lunatic Friend! I’m so grateful that you keep searching and sharing these nutshell nuggets of sermons and prayers we’re never likely ever gonna hear in church. But at least even the back benches are still inside the church inspite of all the Pharisees eh?!

I love the recent reference to the words of wisdom in Proverbs. I find there’s great value in reading a chapter every day. Since there’s 31 chapters you can read the whole book every month. Sometimes you have to cram but that’s not gonna hurt you!

God-incidentally, the Insight part of the Our Daily Bread devotional for 24-April-2024, mentions that “We must keep in mind that the Proverbs don’t always tell us how to live; sometimes they’re observations about life—for instance, “the buyer” who considers a product yet disparages its value in order to bargain for a lower price (Proverbs 20:14). Solomon, who wrote many of the Proverbs, isn’t advising us to imitate this dishonest bartering tactic; rather, this is his observation of human nature. Goldingay suggests that verse 5 is key to understanding the chapter: “The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out.””

Thanks for sharing your insights, I can see clearly now …. it’s gonna be a Son-shining day!

    1. thanks for all o dis! .. this is what the back row is for.. churches don’t allow much ‘discussion’ but it’s part of learning!! and Pursuit! Good on ya luinstra1769

  7. I try to keep in mind how long it took for God to meet out punishment on His enemies in the Old Testament. Sometimes hundreds of years. Course that was on people groups not individuals. His patience is great when it comes to waiting for us to change our ways. That’s amazing when it relates to us…not so much when it’s someone else…Little too Giddy…love that title…

  8. Oh this hits home with me! Glad Im not alone in feeling this way! I often say that I’m glad I fear the Lord more than I dislike the people who deserve what’s coming to them…or I’d be in real trouble lol
