  1. This is so good.
We forget that routine things shows faithfulness.
And you taught me a new word!
    Viscosity!
Wondering how I can drop that in a conversation to sound so smart haha

  2. First one that I listened to. Question it would seem in order to comply I must listen regularly until it becomes second nature.

  3. My Dear Consistently Lunatic Friend,

Man, I wish I could have hung out with you on the back pew closest to the exit eh.

Did you deliberately deal this Nutshell the day after Ground Hog Day? Bill Murray spent awhile reliving & repeating until his eventual release.

Which is basically what I think you’re saying about Christian living. That it’s really like a rinse and repeat cycle until the roll (our role?) is called up yonder.

Your use of the term “viscosity” caught my attention since, as a mechanical engineer, I’m able to screw up just about anything every time.

“Viscosity” is a measure of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Such a neat concept that we can apply in a positive or negative sense. As Disciples of Jesus (DoJ), are we resistant to going along to get along with the wiles of the Devil prowling around seeking whom he can devour?

Or, are we as DoJs, resistant to going with the flow as lead by the prompting of the Holy Spirit to do a good deed or give more $$$$$$ (or time/talents/etc) than we Worldly-think we can afford?

This AM, the local Christian radio station, LIFE100.3,
weekly Retro Show played Grover Levy – If You Want To Lead Me To Jesus, followed by Keith Green – He’ll Take Care of the Rest. Look up the lyrics and meditate on them while we run and run to catch up to the sun (Son?) while it’s sinking …

I think I’ll stop spinning here since maybe I’m losing my lubricity.

  4. I remember Joyce Meyer saying that God taught her obedience by putting the shopping cart back in the corral ..

  5. I do get tired of the daily routing get up, walk dog, say a prayer,go to work, go home, wash rinse repeat…
The religious pray the same prayers three times a day. I think God knows them by heart.
So when is repetition a good thing and when does it turn mechanical, and we forget why we came to faith in the first place? I have to work at figuring out how to not get swept away by the daily routine . Can’t wait for retirement, do something else.

    1. Hi MK depends on what you’re repeating but even good repetition can feel worthless too.. Bible talks about not using ‘vain’ repetition when you pray.. there’s another thing to wonder about. insincerity is vain I suppose. n BTW you’ll miss having something to do when you retire.. you still have to find productivity.. just my opinion.. I can’t retire but I feel like am now

      1. They say of you do what you truly love, then you’re not really working. It’s still work but you love doing it. I’m sick of Hi-Tech. But yeah being idol leads to sinful things. I heard that said somewhere as well.

  6. So I’m trying to catch up again. But I don’t mind. This one reminds me of reader’s digest word of the day, learning a new word each time I listen to your nutshell sermon.
Repetition is so much a part of our lives, right? In prayer, in learning, even in disciplining our kids, when we have to constantly remind them what to do. But, that’s what my parents did and eventually I figured out how not to get in trouble.
Always fun to listen to your voice, whether singing or sermoning.

  7. I think Eugene Peterson said it quite well in his book title ‘ A Long Obedience in the Same Direction’..
Being faithful in the dailyness of life. It’s a good thing to remember.
    I really appreciated this nutshell.
