  1. It was easy to recognize Sweet Comfort Band…can’t tell that the setup was all in the studio though horns aren’t usually there though sounded really good…for the band’s 1st album sounds pretty awesome! Very professional.!

  2. SCB was a world class band from the very start! You guys had the music and the voice together ❤️ with the work practicing to make it…

    1. never did know.. I heard it was one guy stacking multitracks.. hadn’t met the seawind horn guys yet.. don’t remember too many horn players back then either

  3. Your vocals are always so powerful. Sharp and clear and LOUD lol you had to be the lead vocal and go on to solo career with those pipes lol

  4. It was a great foresight to keep the photo album of the project…a personal remembrance for you guys to have when you look back just like you are now…who knew you would make a career of it!

    1. hey G! I forgot how basic we sounded.. multitrack n sound samples now.. make a clutter of stuff.. thanks for the comment looks like yer first time on here

  5. B, I REMEMBER WHEN THINGS WERE POPPIN WITH THAT SOUND RIGHT THERE ! PEOPLE IN OUR GENERATION WERE INTO IT HOT AND HEAVY ! WHEN YOU BROUGHT THAT FIRST ALBUM HOME WHAT WAS YOUR FAMILY REACTION TO IT AND THE PEOPLE FROM THE HOMETOWN BACK THEN ? WHERE I LIVE WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL PERSONS IN THE AREA WHO HAVE DONE WELL IN THEIR MUSICAL GENRE ( MISSY ELLIOT, TIMBERLAND AND PHARRELL) . DON’T KNOW HOW THEY FAIRED WITH FAMILY BUT THE GENERAL HOMETOWN GIVES THEM THE UTMOST RESPECT AND TREATS THEM WELL FOR THE MOST PART. I WOULD HOPE THAT HEY THEY GAVE YOU A AT LEAST A ATTA BOY HOMEBOY DONE WENT OUT AND DONE GOOD OUT THERE !

    1. uuuh nope.. my family lived on the east coast.. i never went home for the first six years… not sure I ever heard much from anyone about what I was doing till waaaay later

  6. My Apple Music’s “heavy rotation” mix starts with this one. Almost 50 years and I’m still not tired of it!!

    1. wow thanks Chad man.. I’ve listened to it several times.. this week.. been a while.. but sure miss the simplicity of a four piece band.. no sound samples or gimmics!

  7. I’ve loved this record for as long as I can remember. My dad had it on 8-track, and I grew up listening to it on road trips—it’s how I first became a Sweet Comfort Band fan. My dad was in a regional Christian band, and whenever we traveled to other cities for ministry, this album was our soundtrack. It truly became a defining part of my childhood.

You could say I’ve been a fan since the beginning—I was only six years old when this record came out! We also had the Maranatha 8-track with “Golden Ages” on it. I’d love to hear more about that track sometime.

The first SCB album I ever bought with my own money was Cutting Edge when I was ten, and I still have that original vinyl. Sweet Comfort Band has been a constant presence in my life. This music has shaped my spiritual walk and remains in regular rotation to this day, even after all these years!

Really appreciate hearing these stories—thanks for keeping the memories and the music alive.

  8. That’s the kind of music I always wish one of the bands I played in could’ve played. That was a fantastic first effort. Most Christian bands best efforts did not sound that well arranged. I always give you kudos for your musicianship brother. But being a frustrated bass player, I’ve gotta say, Kevin Thomson played some of the tastiest bass lines I’ve heard. If there were two bass players I wish I could play like, it was him and Abraham Laboriel of Koinonia. Loved that flamenco strum thing he does on the bass. I really enjoyed this song, I’m not sure if I had heard it before. God Bless and thanks once again for all you do…

    1. wow pretty high praise for Kevin then.. in that kinda company.. you should hear Kevin’ Thomson’s son Eli Thomson… he played on The Waiting is Over in place of his dad .. and you’ll find him on youtube with other artists

  9. I was 13 and had this album on 8-track; didn’t have many albums, so it pretty much played over and over. Got me through Jr. High. We’d invite kids from school to a free concert at Narrows Park, some of them got saved and are still walking with the Lord. Now I have The Waiting is Over CD in the car that gets played over and over. Thanks for your years of dedication.

    1. hey Kev! thanks for the kudos.. The Waiting was never distributed.. just sold it to the core folks so yer one of em. and looks like yer first time to comment! welcome to the back row .. you’ve been around if you remember Narrows Park!
