Your message came on Sunday…my day to listen to Quiet Prayers. I’ve found that they’re the comfort I need for my own grief. I’m like you Bryan…I tend to get speechless and listen for a word from God. We can’t change the world today and have to find a way to live…giving compassion and support to others as best we can. That’s easier to do when the coffer is full! Today mine was on empty till I prayed and ordered some replacements for items damaged here. I chose the least $$ from a $B company…hope they’re okay! Shopping is my addiction and hope this was a success!!
The verse you’re thinking of is Ecclesiastes 7:2. It says:
”It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of everyone; the living should take this to heart.”
The verse contrasts the solemnity of a funeral (a house of mourning) with the merriment of a party (a house of feasting). The idea is that contemplating mortality can lead to wisdom, while constant pleasure-seeking can be a distraction. We’ve been to a lot of funerals. Need a break from wisdom for awhile
My 30 yr old son passed away on Dec 23 2021 of Fentanyl OD at a sober house.. Grief sucks.. your never the same BUT God is still good and provides soft places to fall.. but God says we will suffer here on this earth..but also promises to walk along with us if we let him. ❤️ loved your nutty sermon Bryan!!
Yes it is horrific sadness. Loss is so hard and as we get older there is so much of it as I know you know. We are not alone. I know God uses suffering like this, though, so we can pray and support others going through similar things… but oh it hurts! Blessings Bryan, from another lunatic friend in Christ. Prayers for you and your lovely wife.

Just chipping away at the sculpture he is creating. Sometimes that chisel hurts. But the beauty it creates will be well worth it in the end.
