  1. I never heard of them but they are good. I didn’t come into Christian music until 1976.

  2. Very cool sound. I went and found them right away, thanks! I’m gonna listen to their entire album. Thanks for your Nutshell Sermons too, so good for the soul 🙂

    1. I was thinkin bout that yesterday.. I don’t have the graininess to do country like he could.. my voice is too clean.. maybe that’s why I resented the genre

  3. Definitely your jam and you are right you had your own lane in contemporary Christian music they used to call it! Something cool about that ol organ! God gave you that unique style 100 %!!

  4. I hadn’t heard of them either. Love the organ. The doors, deep purple.
Bethlehem I did see twice. There were those maranatha concert circuits or something like that
They came through Denver and Greeley. Had the album, don’t know what happened to it… Anyway thanks fir the memories of my teenage years.

      1. You’d have to be from another planet to not who deep purple is. Do you know that smoke on the water is a chord progression derived from bethovens 5 played backwards in parallel 4ths. Since I know music theory made sense.

        Anyway. God bless!!!

    1. Greeley? My daughter and her family live there. Never heard of it until another friend moved there. But I digress.

  5. Didn’t realize Bill Sprouse was that young when he passed away. I don’t remember everything back then. You just keep reminding me of things now. Still loving these nutshell sermons as I sit here waiting to pick up Sammy.

  6. Man they jammed good ! Back when Jesus Music was fresh and pure.Loved it.Your voice is too clean for country you said?Haha.First time my wife heard John Cowan she thought it was you.Very similar but different. You have more soul than he does. Thanks for the memories.NOw stop thinking Bob Hope now.Lol

  7. I sure would love to hear more of those The Road Home basement tapes. I see why you liked it!

    1. I have at least one more I just have to play on here… I never had planned to play other bands music but some just got missed! I have to admit though that I liked Since I Met Jesus.. even country as it might be… can’t help it!

  8. Nice one Brian, I always love the Road Home. Since I met Jesus was one of my first favorites. His B3 playing was the best! He must have been an amazing personality because you and Erick Nelson both wrote songs dedicated to him.
By the way, Paul Clark has recently moved out here to the Washington, Missouri area. You need to drop in and visit. You and Paul could do some free recording in my studio here and enjoy some barbecue and a great view.
We have a room waiting if you are so inclined.
    Blessings
    Greg and Holly Preuss

  9. This is great. I didn’t even know about Christian music at that time. But my mom was close to his family so I got to hear him play, and sing. His dad wasn’t so excited when Billy changed to Christian music. He wasn’t sure billy would make it in that circle. But Billy was joyful and fun. He was a light. Psalm 5, Since I met Jesus. Thanks so much.

    1. thanks Randy good to hear some o yor history… on Maranatha 5 you’ll find Sweet C’s first recording Golden Ages .. written about Bill, after he died.
