Hey Bryan, been really enjoying your reminiscence of the 1970s. So many early “Faith” bands, ever thought about had y’all followed the trend, you guys would have been called “Sweet Comfort Faith”!
LOL Hi Rob, thanks for the comments.welcome aboard
How do you burn Mac and cheese? Man I haven’t had a burrito in a long time. Good memories though..
you burn M&C by not being familiar with a kitchen stove LOL
Your Mac and Cheese story, oh my gosh!
I remember listening to a lot of the bands that you mentioned. Some fun memories. Thank you for taking us on this journey back when.
glad you liked that .. not sure why I added that story but it was the loneliest Christmas season that year.. and I wanted to paint the story of the down time between tours and such!
If he’s the same Rick Griffin that I know, we went to Narbonne High School, graduated in 1962. He was a fantastic artist that died young.
yea he’s the guy… no artist coulda been similar! He did the SCB Logo too
Kevin here! My brother Lee and I saw you at Mikes Bday. Great to connect with you And Naugles….aaahahaha. Miss that place. There’s a couple still around. Love the podcasts man. Catch ya later
Wow that was quick.. theres no pic on yer ID here.. I can’t remember which guy you were. The ‘bigger n life’ guy or the used to be in a rap group guy/// either way good to see you on here. I’m on twitter everyday btw @lunaticfriend2 if you wanna hear stuff that inspired my nut case sermons
I miss those ‘special music’ days too. Not only because many times that was me but because it allowed so many people to share their faith through music. There are so, so many talented people out there who just sit in the pews now. It’s sad…
my own church seldom asks me to sing special stuff.. just not churchy enough for em
This “golden” road you’re taking me down…. man, I can’t describe the feeling. Loved every band on that album, and especially this song. Your voice stood out amongst the others for sure for me. I was this skinny little white girl who loved pop, rock, soul, R&B and funk music (and a little country), from a very early age. And the part about special music in churches… such a great thing that you don’t see any more. At our church in Fontana, Pastor Dennis Kingsland would always have a spot for special music in the service, and anyone could sing a special (even me!) But it was that unique opportunity that allowed my daughters to learn to sing, find their voices and craft their styles, and they would go on to sing on their own church’s worship teams–one at a church in England and one at Saddleback. Can’t believe you didn’t have that same opportunity–so sad! But as you might remember, we had you come one or two time to our church because Pastor Dennis loved featuring local artists, and really loved you. That was so great for me personally, to see you there! And then you were so kind to sing at his funeral. *tears*. Thanks for sharing your wonderful stories, Bryan.
Wow so you went to Kingslands church .. he said he lost half his congregation when he wasn’t healed.. he was asking me about one of my songs ‘we all need’ or “dying to meet you” and I was a little defensive cause I thought he was looking to criticize.. he was just looking for insights he might have missed.
Yep, it was a very rough time. I remember he also resonated with the song “I Never Lied to You” (me too); really hit hard. Miss him, and his heart. I had to listen to “We all Need” again, it’s been a long time. (How many songs do you have again? A thousand I think! )
actually I only have about 120 songs on itunes .. but there’s at least 20 new things on this podcast under “Songs that didn’t make the last record”
Again…..another layer to a wonderful story. I’m glad you’ve decided to dig deep into the memory bank to share these stories. Most of these were prior to me becoming a believer (1980) but I do remember going to see a rockstar named Bryan Duncan at concert. Of course we had to buy and wear out the cassette tape!
I might have a few cassettes left in my garage! LOL
Wondered what the story behind “Golden Ages ..Don’t lay your hand on me”?
Were you afraid that Daniel Amos was going to beat you up? Loved Big Bill Sprouse and Mustard Seed Faith and I still have the vinyl. But know me; I’m classic vinyl Christian music. I suspect Psalm 5 (recorded by Bill Sprouse) was the actual music David intended for those lyrics or perhaps Jesus wanted an updated version. Either way Bryan, God’s still using you and I appreciate your work as well as friendship. My best to Cassie. God Love you brother! You always keep it real. And you are a HOOT! Sometimes a bit rough.. but that’s what makes it… well Jesus’ expession of His personality throu you.
You feel like an old friend Doug.. it’s been a while but here we still are! Thanks for the support all these years. btw I just was down on Daniel Amos cause they were doin country for a while and they were more popular around CC
