  1. This is a hard one when I live on a fixed income and my wife’s son in law brags about the things he can afford. But what I try to do is just remember I have what I need

  2. Ouch!! At first I was thinking I’m in a good space so I don’t really envy other stuff. Then I realized that when it comes to family relationships I fall way short of appreciating what I have. I “wish” I had what others do. Time to start asking for a change in attitude in accepting what God has given me and to stop longing for what He has not given me. You nailed this one

    1. thanks Beck, I always feel like i’m going to indite myself in a way nobody else has a problem with! feels good to comfess my defects of character and be understood!

  3. I can remember the cliche “green with envy”. It makes sense that money is green. But we can be envious of others God given talent too. Why are we like that? Cant we just be gracious? Lets be content with what weve got. Thanks Bryan!

    1. Really? I didn’t notice.. when I listen back to my podcasts.. sometimes it feels really slow.. that’s how fast my brain turns. feel free to listen twice! thanks for your thoughts!

  4. So even when I think I’m doing ok, I still find I have a crap load of trouble. Something ain’t right!!!

      1. My Grandmother turned 94 last month still living in Colorado. She says that word occasionally. I just laugh.

  5. This one hits home. I’m amazed at how things I never struggled with earlier in life can crop up such as envy. Too much time looking back and around at others instead of realizing God has the best yet to come so keep pressing on in obedience. maybe your next one can be on the 11th commandment – Thou shalt not regret…

    1. Good to hear from ya DC… Regret is a new temptation in our later years! I face it all the time.. “maybe I shoulda..” Why didn’t ‘that’ happen.. and such the like

  6. Wow. So much good stuff in this one… I’ve listened to it several times. Pretty sure this has the most wisdom per second of anything else on the internet.

    1. Wow! what a compliment Cliff thanks for the encouragement. I hope you don’t mind if I quote you! nobody’ll believe me if I said it.. LOL I’m thrilled yer enjoying these

  7. And on the administrative front – I thought I’d mention if you hit the home menu it takes you back in time to sermons from 2022(https://nutshell-sermons.blubrry.net/) not sure if this is intentional or not but I have hit it 50 times and get the same result each time even though I expect something different. I haven’t taken the time to back through all the sermons I’ve missed so I for sure would like to listen to these. I will just have to slowly retrain myself to use the back arrow.

    1. If you type in Nutshellsermons.com in a url you should see at the top header ‘nutshell sermmons’ which separtes it from all the Jesus n music & and Songs you won’t hear in church

  8. I envy my kids who have houses while we’re in a third floor condo. After 44 years, we finally own our own place. That’s what I should be grateful for, and I am because it’s two bedroom and we can house visitors in their own room with a bathroom instead of them coming through our bedroom to the bathroom. And instead of blowup mattresses or couches in the living room.
And I wished I had a better voice to sing solos (what’s my motive for that). I envied Noonie, but had the blessing of singing with her in choir and as a duet. It’s good enough to praise God in music.
    Loved this today.

    1. yea.. I get it.. I rent now in a little retirement sized bungalow but it’s just me and my wife.. and occasion over night stays from the GK’s I sometimes miss owning a house but not the maintenance
