  1. It’s so cool hearing you tell the behind the scenes stories of SCB. I remember hearing from my cousin in about 78 or 79 after he heard this awesome band play at Wharehouse Ministries! I lived in Sonoma county north of Santa Rosa, and he lived in Roseville near Sacramento. Their youth group had attended the concert. Yeah I was bummed that I didn’t get to go. I would visit him fairly often and we talked about trying to catch one of the SCB concerts but it never happened for me. At least I got to catch Bryan D about a half dozen times through the years. I picked you up at the Sacramento airport to do a concert at San Juan High School once. That was in the late 80’s.
    Great times!!

  2. Lol. Love this. Love you hearing your song on the radio even if you were alone. Hilarious Pastor Greg dancing lol. I am glad you are doing these Nutshells.
    You have a cool background

    1. hi Ken.. yea, well its really getting hard to get timelines together and on this post I simply picked my favorite memories even though I don’t exactly remember where the butter incident happened.. thanks for posting.

  3. Another great story Bryan. Fun to hear about Greg Laurie. He’s so straight up now! Would love to see him on tape those days. Amazing that you were able to post something this week with everything else you had going on! By change, was it KMET or KLOS that played your song? There was one other station, but I can’t remember the call letters. I just started venturing over to other FM stations besides KEARTH 101, around that same time. 93 KHJ AM was my main station … but when I discovered the stations that played entire albums on FM, and songs that mainstream stations wouldn’t play, that was a major shift in my taste and appreciation of music. But then it was also the time, that I started investing in Christian albums and cassette tapes, and loved that music more.

  4. So many favorite songs from Sweet Comfort band! But this is definitely one of my favorite songs. I would’ve been considered a super fan at the time if you remembered. Someone in the band has the leather bound photo album I had made for the band and probably included this photo album cover! Anyway, love you guys and love the Nutshell sermons!

  5. You need to write your memoirs.
I remember seeing Sweet Comfort at the Palm Springs High School Auditorium in I think 1976.
    Great show and memory.

    1. thanks for the vote of enthusiasm. I know I’m having trouble with exact timelines tellin my story. actually the highlights are the best. otherwise I would bore myself to death

  6. I remember hearing “childish things” on the radio! Oh the memories! God just wants us desperate for Him alone to save us from what is in our face. Things work out with a funny laugh long after the trial. Just like today, pacing outside the hospital desperate for hope and healing. Faith is what he wants from us. Hang in there take yer Higher power with ya, I have to practice NOT trying to boss God around, you know, telling Him HOW my prayers must be answered? Lol. It’s always something.

    1. Hi Cary I tell people at my age now I’ve lost the luxury of cynicism. So appreciate that you have been here from the very. early days. few I’ve heard from who remember Childish Things being played on the secular radio station.

  7. Bryan, I don’t know how you say everything that you say in such a short time. Your stories are great and I enjoy hearing them. I realize that I have a lot of catching up to do but everyone that I’ve listened to so far has been hilarious and entertaining. Thank you for everything you’ve done and thank you for your lifelong ministry. You truly are a great lunatic friend!

    1. wow thanks SH I was just being criticized by my sister in law because I talk so fast and it’s short and I’m yelling the whole time! ROFL.. my podcast is done at the spead that my brain processes! LOL I know if it was me.. I won’t read past a paragraph in posted stuff online
