Thanks Brian,
70’s Super stylish music is a blast. Thanks for being an explosive part of it all.
Daniel
Thanks Daniel, this wasn’t the best part of our timeline but it gets better .. kinda
So Fromm’s made news again this year when his company Worship Leader Magazine went after a Worship Leader for trademark infringement. They trade marked Worship Leader! His blog included the term. Chuck’s widow went to great links defending that nonsense . Still trying to make a buck off the talent.
yea.. things that are done in the name of God.. If I didn’t know Jesus personally I wouldn’t hang out with some of his friends! LOL
A great commentary on the biz. I hope new bands listen and learn. We may have new tech inn music but human attitudes and greed will always be around, regardless of the industry!
Hi RK I was fortunate mostly.. I did what I wanted for a long time.
Just pulled up YT and listened to “Bringing the Message” really good stuff. My wife though will roll her eyes if she hears me listening to “Old” music. For the record she does not roll her eyes if I have your music on. I was listening to a nutshell sermon on speaker while she was walking through the house and she said “who is that ” they are funny. They sound familiar like I should know them”
LOL.. glad someone is resonating.. my wife corrects me and my sis in law is asking why I have to yell? LOL
Thanks for the podcast. Listened to Breaking the Ice on my way home from work, still an awesome recording.
to be honest I had to google it to remember what was on there! ROFL
Absolutely loving these back stories! In my humble opinion SCB was the greatest thing that ever came out of Maranatha. Just saying. Everyone that I knew loved SCB!
thanks.. btw when you google Maranatha Music.. we’re listed first! ? and then Love Song, not sure who put that info out! but maybe we did raise the most awareness of their label
I can’t wait until your next episode of history as it is very interesting. Darn those record companies. There must be a better way. Did you find it?
SUre love that you love deeze! Jules .. OH yea, we did better on the next label.. only other label we were with! it’s comin… next thursday!
I still have my Breakin’ the Ice album, nd just listening to this made me wanna play it, but like my CD player in my car, it doesn’t work. Either my husband will try to fix it or I’m gonna go buy a new one so I can play those albums. Love hearing the history behind you and your bands. History that I sort of remember since I grew up in that era along with you.
I never know what to put in to these stories .. theres so many ways to go.. and I’m losing my timeline memory bout what happened when.. havin records out bout every year keeps me on track
I’ve really enjoyed your stories about the history of the Sweet Comfort Band. It’s so interesting to hear “the rest of the story.” Your music was a huge part of the sound track of my life in the 70s and, of course, when you listen to stuff over & over is gets stuck in your brain forever. In the case of the SCB, that’s been a very, very good thing. And as a bonus, I think I’ve got my 23 year old son hooked on it now too. Thank you & God bless!
Hi Cliff thanks for the encouragement. my greatest satisfaction has been to have remained relatively consistent over the years when it often felt like weren’t accomplishing much.
Sounds like the Wild West, including some county (and western) music. While the first record was a great release SCB got better with each release. Thanks for hanging in there.
thanks Ray.. but I was a one trick pony in my mind. it looked like consistency but I really didn’t have other options. I had to make this work! thanks for commenting
Loved the episode! Your’s and the rest of the bands music was so good during those early days. To hear the behind the scenes of what was going on, make you wonder how anything was done. We know it was God’s grace. When you were considering Light records did you have any interest in Solid Rock Records where DA had gone to?
P.S. Never a question in my mind who the lead singer was!
I was never aware of Solid Rock Records. We wouldn’t have followed DA to a label as we so different stylistically .. we had already gone with a label that majored in another style of music. learned that the hard way. Thanks for commenting Rick
You made a wise move! Could have been a “horrendous” mistake.
LOL I see what you did there.. DA were friends and felt like sister bands playin a lot of the same gigs.. but nothin whatsoever similar to each other
Sorry for the double post. SCB and DA were favorites for sure.
No worries RR I left it up makes me look more popular! LOL
You made a wise choice in my view! Could have been a “horrendous” mistake.
I love this pod cast. You get more said in 2 minutes then any one I know. My favorite song of yours is “Love You With My Life”. Love all your music… Have followed you since 78’
interesting timing I’ll be posting “Love You With My Life” story in the next Jesus n Music episode
