  1. I remember buying Lunatic Friend and playing it for my bride. She said she liked the CD, but when this song came on she brightened up and said, this was her favorite song from the Sweet Comfort Band days.
It has been a family fave ever since. I have especially loved the flugelhorn solo in it; having been a trumpet player back in high school.
I love hearing this song every chance I get.

    1. yea we have a different solo on every recording of it.. Fletch Wiley did the Flugal horn version. Funny I never saw this song being so ‘eternal’ they’ll likely play it at my funeral.. “just before I leave you”

  4. Love the backstory of this song. It’s has been past of the soundtrack of my life. As a matter of fact, I am writing a sermon based on this song as I type this. (I’m a pastor of a small church, in New Mexico, no doubt.) So this post seemed timely, and almost unbelievable that you posted this today, as I’m working on my sermon! God’s sense of humor, and “perfect timing.”

    1. wow Hi Tom.. are you in NM ? that would be an amazing “God Wink”. as thats where I was thinking about these lyrics. Nice to meet a real Pastor.. I just pretend to be one on here! LOL two minutes is my entire train of thought.. unless its a song than I can maybe go 4 minutes with a guitar solo! ROFL

  6. I love that song! I used the accompaniment tape several times to sing to groups of people. I’m so thankful God gave you that song.

    1. Hi and Thanks for stopping by DB …
hey let me know in a comment under this episode on nutshellsermons.com if you would like to continue “Jesus N Music in the 1970s into the 80’s at least to the end of SCB

      1. That song is actually prophetic!! Kind of reminds me of some of the Psalms of David when the Holy Spirit was speaking through him about Jesus. Keep them coming my friend especially about the sweet Comfort band. The journey behind the song. God bless your day sir!! By the way I’m glad Cassie is doing good.

        1. thanks for sounding out. it’s hard to remember what happened when.. I might be a little out of sequence.. but I have projects all along the way so it helps

  7. I love the song, “Love You With My Life”, especially the lines, “I will give you peace through all your tribulations, until I come again” and “Please know that I love you, I’LL STAY BY YOUR SIDE, if only now in spirit, I’ll still be your guide.”
The Lord has truly given me peace in tribulations, and I cling to the promise that He never leaves me. How amazing that the Holy Spirit is ALWAYS with us….we are never alone!
Thanks for sharing the back-story of this song, and may God bless you all your days, and in all your travels.

  8. Please continue doing Jesus n Music for as long as you can! Your sharings are so refreshing and I really enjoy the honesty.

    1. thanks AP! tryin to remember the time line is time consuming.. six minutes of material takes me 5 hours at least. there was a lot of mind numbing standing around between highlights!

  9. As a young impressionable musician, this song hit in a moment when my world was ending. An accident stopped my music in a way that looked permanent. This song became a reminder that Jesus understood my suffering because He loved me through His. It would be okay. It kept me alive and to this day, it is my theme song – not only for God’s love for me, but also my determination to also love others with my life.

  10. Just got home from a 12 hour trip with my wife Carol and your music playing most of the way. Not only encouraging to us but thinking about a son of ours going through a devastating time. I’ll be sending him titles to listen to including Love You With My Life. I’m praying they will minister to him the way they have impacted us. We’re the same age with similar yet totally different lifes. I’m thinking you probably had no idea how the Lord might use your past experiences and music to touch people still today. It’s quite a blessing to look back and realize that seeds planted in the past have taken root and have grown into beautiful life stories.

    1. wow thanks for the encouragement Bob! there were whole decades where it was just keep yer head down and try to stay alive. never heard the impact of my efforts until recently when my life slowed down. sounds like maybe your son is in music?

  11. Yeah,I think I told you once the influence that song has had me, and SCB. Funny how the things, or song, that seem insignificant turn out to be the most far reaching.

    1. I know right? .. and some of my most proud mmoments in music were completely overlooked.. reminds me of the lyric in a song.. ’til my trophy’s at last I lay down’

  12. Hey Bryan
What was the tune that mentioned Saskatoon? My memory sucks! Just drove through there last week. Pretty city!

      1. Truly Canuck. A band I hung with (Clay)backed you up for five tunes at one of your first solo concerts after SCB. It was at the university of Alberta in Edmonton. They spent many hours learning those tunes . I am still friends with them all 25+ years later! I may even have a VHS Recording of that gig that I did . So much fun for the guys!

        1. Wow no kidding.. my mind is gettin foggy these days.. but be sure to say thanks for being part of my efforts in the past. say hello to yer buddies and thanks for the support. nice to reconnect

  13. This song represents the first introduction to SCB for me from LONG ago! It really spoke to me and I became a life-long follower of SCB, then Bryan and any artist with whom he collaborated. While I can’t sing most of his songs (hahaha) there are a few I’ve been able to sing without making my throat bleed over the years (hahaha) and they’ve always been well received. Thanks for all you’ve done and continue to do Bryan. I can’t speak for everyone, but my soul has certainly been blessed by your music.

  14. I owned a copy of Anonymous Confessions… and LOVED it! I have sung along with “Love You With My Life many times. Such a deeply touching and encouraging song! When God is speaking though us it is powerful! Thank you for sharing the story of how it came about, (with your wonderful sense of humor).

  15. Bryan, a co worker turned me on to your CD about 10 years ago. I immediately felt the connection to your voice. The elevated musicianship was the most appealing especially being a Seawind fans and whatever Larry Williams touches. Jump ahead and listened to your nutshell sermon today, you’re quippy wit is totally inline/similar how I process life. Thanks for your work(s) it inspires me write and elevate the process. Cont….blessings!

  17. Loved the behind-the-scenes story on your crown jewel of songs. Bryan, please do not stop telling the Jesus N Music stories! I can’t wait to hear about ALL the decades. You’ve only scratched the surface.

    1. thanks MVH and for your encouraging support. I’m writing a summary of the 70’s and Jesus Music coming in two weeks.. before I continue telling the SCB story

  18. Always loved that song. The thought of Jesus loving me with his life, then His death and then His resurrection, ascension and return still stokes my heart. Thank you for expressing scripture in such a beautifully creative way.
