We’re always lookin for significance. Apparently God, sacrificing his first born, isn’t enough.

Trying not to make yourself out to be something or someone special is a trait I have to work on constantly. Especially in this age of “self promotion”
I have to remind myself that people don’t sit around thinking about me as much as I do.
Another good one sir!
LOL well said.. my dad told me ‘you wouldn’t worry as much about what people thought of you if you realized how little they actually think about you’ LOL
Oh man this is a great one !
whew! Thanks.. I worry I’m just a bb in a boxcar! LOL rattled on about nothin’! LOL Thanks for the lift!
Good stuff my friend!! Yeah, we saw some crazy stuff in those old CCM days. I’m so glad to know that it’s all changed for the better by now. (darn, where is that sarcasm emoji?)
yer sarcasm around me needs no emoji! LOL yer in the right place now! LOL.. thing about sarcasm is that nobody can pretend to be somebody.. we all know better! ROFL Pleasure to see you on here Hall-y means a lot to be ‘got’!
I had an interesting experience just yesterday with someone who needed a little help but now I can’t tell you about it
because you forgot already? LOL I try not to name names on here either! thankfully I seldom remember
Sometimes I consider people identified in scripture, the headliners of course, but them that are mentioned sort of insignificantly. Like Peleg and Joktan, they don’t seem that important but the event mentioned with them is huge.. Gen 10:25
ever wonder where you’d show up if the Bible was being written now? LOL there’s a nutshell sermon in the making! thanks KP
Oh MR D … You did it again .. Your Nutshell Sermons are just that.. Great bits of experience.. wisdom & Humor..
Go On with yer bad Self..️
LOL thanks for the incitement… I’m truly a mess and amazed that I’m not alone in that! thanks for your friendship Laura
John was the “town cryer” fulfillment of prophesy. Interesting when looking up the meaning of baptism it says a Christian ritual of sprinkling of water or submersion. The actual word is submersion. The whole concept is from the ritual of purification in Judiasm. You can’t come before the lord unpure, or with an unpure spirit. Work with the whole concept of giving or doing a good deed. If done with a pure heart and spirit, then it wasn’t about recognition… just about doing the right thing… I guess I have to ask myself how much have I done out of Pyrenees, and how much to get a pat on the back… might find myself being a bigger in heaven….
somehow I managed to drop this post before I could answer.. I was baptisted fully in Soap Lake Washinton! I kid you not.
Wow!! I like that phrase, fashioning your own trophy. Makes a lot of sense, kind of stepping on my toes!!
not before I stepped on my own toes.. and more than once my friend thanks fer keeping me company LOL
Typos are a problem meant
Stepping off my soapbox and sharing this one with my family. As always, lov’n the nutshells as I travel thru Arkansas!
I’m prolly off to Sweden for you get back
I’ll catch up with you soon, but have a great trip.
Blessed bro!
A favorite saying of mine….speaking about humility, ‘the minute you think you’ve got it, you’ve lost it’….how many times will we say on judgement day, ‘God, what about this and this. Didn’t I do great?’ and He will say ‘No reward for that cuz you did it, not Me’… This little nutshell was top notch.
Hi Beth.. my worst one was to think music would last me a life time.. Glad I found podcasting to fill in
I’ve missed the last few because I’ve been busy with either company or traveling. Today school starts for my daughter and I’m watching my grandson full time until he starts school. Then it’ll be just picking him up and being with him till she gets home.
Anyway, I figured I had time now to listen to just a few sermons I haven’t listened to. This was a good one. Actually, they’re all good. This one was something that reminds me on how I do things for people or volunteer and at the moment I feel like I do it because I enjoy helping people. And then later on I kind of wish I had more accolades or pats on the back. A lot of people say thank you so that’s nice. But sometimes I want more recognition than the speaker, which is really stupid. But it’s funny how I think that sometimes and how I know it’s not about me. There were times where I’d be singing with Noonie or in the choir or something and I’d get the thank you. It is funny how we think we need more attention than others. I liked your John the Baptist example. Like a roadie? I would have done that for you. ❤
LOL glad to hear your insights.. helps me connect when I hear what you deal with in such thoughts.. prolly all have em
Excellent insight in John the Baptist’s pov and example of walking in one’s calling with humility. Never looked at it that way before. I straddle the line- too prideful on either side.
so glad you found my earlier thoughts Jewels!
I’m just trying to catch up to present – listening every chance I can! I don’t want to skip and miss any!
Thanks for your faithfullness to my pontifications LOL Jewels
I was a little confused about today’s sermon…I always saw John announcing Jesus coming or following as an introduction of a play musical or something to set the mood…give a taste of what’s to come…John was obeying God in what to say and do lol!
I was deliberately puttin John in the place of a modern day perspective.. terribly entertaining to me.. just like telling the story of Adam n Eve from Adam’s point of view LOL
I think it’s a means of financial support and issues down the road…the act of John in the Bible certainly be memorable no matter how much he could be praised. ..John had the gift 9f friendship with Jesus in the Bible! Lol
