  1. Bryan, not to sound trite, but DANG man, this one was on fire. I loved, “Ice on the branches in the winter of my discontent.” That was awesome, and “I Never Should Have Left You” resonates with where I’m at in life now.
Thanks again for doing these, I’m gonna have to go back and re-listen to them now.

  2. Perfect Timing was the first SCB album I had the privilege of hearing. What a ride it must’ve been. All the excitement and despair rolled into a decade of music. I guess if this were a VH1 show at some point we would’ve heard “an when we return, Sweet Comfort Band hits rock bottom” Looking forward to the next chapter in your journey including the likes of Chuck Barth and Larry Brown

  3. I loved this album. I wore out my tape twice. My second favorite album as Breakin the Ice is my all time favorite

  4. It is easy to get caught up and lose sight of the feeling of why you are doing something. God can take our mistakes and use them for His glory! Thank you for sharing.

    1. thanks for hangin around with me even after not getting that back stage pass LOL the next episode is called “The Aftermath” it actually put me in a terse mood! for a minute

  5. Much needed Bryan. The insight of how Life behind the music and ministry has an impact. I truly try my best not to hurt those around me. I guess, washing feet keeps me humble… I have followed You walk with Jesus through my Life. Yes, I have sung songs you have written to those I have Loved and Lost. Not knowing You have had those same things happen to you. God knew what I needed along the way in this Life. ” The Jesus in You to help along The Way” One of the darkest times in my Life, You visited Solid Rock Church in Ohio. Going through Life changing time, I witnessed how you handled some moments you were going through as well that truly helped me in my pain at the time. You needed Prayer for your back, We All Prayed. Not knowing the outcome of The Prayer, just listening to the next project you released helped me understand how Prayer Changes Things and Worship still is above All we give to The Lord. I think that was around 13 or so years ago.
You continue to make a difference in All You do in Jesus’s Name. It’s worth for more the you, I and everyone can imagine. Keep on moving, the Harvest is being brought in, you may not see the work that it is having on dry, uncultavated ground, water has a way through the music you are giving.
I Love You, My Brother. May The Lord continue The Gift of music in You.

  6. Dude, this is raw and one of the best stories I’ve heard. Well the plane wreck was pretty intense.
    Love the stories. Props!

  7. Just …Wow! So interesting to hear your stories of those early years. It’s so weird how God works. As you were closing out that chapter I was just discovering SCB and Christian Rock in general. Your voice was it man. I heard it and it put validity to the genre behind those lyrics. It’s great to hear the backstory of some of those songs. I was disappointed to open that “Perfect Timing” cassette and see “The Farewell” tour insert. My face….. But it all makes sense now. When you started your solo career. I was so eager to get “Have yourself committed”. It felt so much more free than anything you did in SCB. Little did I know you may have been thinking…have yourself committed actually meant “Am I really doing this again?”. Lol I’m glad you did. Looking back I’m sure can be rough. You managed to do what few artist could do in CCM. Connect on a level beyond Sunday morning gloss. I think you have been as transparent as you could be with your music. Especially in a genre that isn’t always welcoming to that. I love the highs and sometimes lows in your music. Those of us who enjoy your journey don’t feel like we got a CCM fabrication but rather something that was real and authentic. I for one would love to hear you continue on with your solo journey. The processes and where and why you did what you did with each album. It’s fascinating. Bless you brother. I mean that in the most sincere way possible. You are valued and treasured.

    1. man that last paragraph just made my day.. I’ve always thought of my songs as a diary of a walk with Jesus.. and I also knew I was not helping my CCM career in doing it! funny too .. when I went solo one of the first songs was actually “Maybe This Time”.
the next episode though is called “The Aftermath” a wrap up of a decade in a band
thanks for walkin with me Ron! means a lot

  8. Being honest with ourselves and then acting on it is the hardest thing… I don’t believe it. I worked on a concrete crew in Jacksonville Florida for 2 years after leaving the military. There was always something satisfying to leave a slick slab for the carpenters. The foundation, when it’s level and the rebar is set in right it stands the test of time. Kinda like faith… 1984 I was in Okinawa. God bless.

  9. Perfect Timing was my first experience of SCB. Loved it.
Do hard times bring the best songs? Sometimes it would be nice if they were in the third person, instead of experiencing them in the first person, no?
You guys made a difference in my life. SCB, then your solo stuff; Randy with Allies etc. Thank you.

  10. Lol Ilove that book! I’m sanguine too and yes Randy was definitely melancholy, deep thinker. I made everyone in my circle take the test just to see if I was right about them. Lol. Sure made certain people more predictable.

    1. Hi Care! I realized though, after leaving the band I was more meancholy than I wanted to be.. I worked at being outgoing a little. Hope yer doing good. I still go back to my apartment days when you were something akin to a brief salvation! thanks for still bein here

  11. I just got 3 more of your CD’S & I thought that was it but I guess not because I don’t have this one. I am looking forward to finding it. I am sure it was for your best to take a break!!!

    1. LOL Hi J.A.L.! I have 22 albums I think..I’ve even lost count. I had to take another break too when the Pandemic hit.. didn’t want to either. but God laughs at our plans sometimes. Nutshells have been a rejuvenation of another kind for me.. going back to more Bible reading.. I’ve been winging it for a while..

  12. Every time I listen to your Nutshells I am enlightened..Jesus.. Music and disconnect have been a theme throughout my life as a child entertainer. My divorce trial is just 3 days away ..Thank you for your wisdom words Mr.D ️

  13. Please keep these stories coming. You’re providing some exceptional insight and wisdom for us younger guys. I really hope you continue the stories AFTER the “Aftermath” and into your solo career. We need to hear your life lessons!

    1. Thanks MW! sure didn’t see this comin.. grandpa tellin’ stories! I’m always afraid that maybe I didn’t learn anything! LOL and yea, lets see what I can find to say going forward..
