I do solemnly swear to do all that you said at the end of this podcast. Truthfully I can’t remember everything you said, but I do know that I support your efforts and will faithfully to my best abilities share/talk/annoy my friends and family about Nutshell Sermons for as long as I live. So help me God.

  2. Great time frame! I booked concerts at ORU back in the 70s. Wish I’d known SCB back then! You and Steve Taylor – what a kick that must’ve been! Thanks for the fun remembrance of yours.

    1. NO Kidding? cool that you were there. I played ORU quite a lot eventually. there’s even a video clip of Bob Carlisle and I wearing usher jackets from ORD back stage, while singing I’m a Soul Man! LOL it on You tube

  3. It’s always a treat to hear what was going on behind the scenes of a influential album. It causes me to appreciate the music more!

  4. Now this one brought back a lot of memories. One of my favorite memories was picking up Bryan and Ray Ware from the Sacramento airport and bringing them to San Juan High School for a concert. I’m spite of all kinds of sound problems and less that’s perfect conditions, Bryan brought the house down that night. That was probably in 88 or 89. It was fun just hanging out with them and getting to know this great sense of humor!

  5. The witness we can give is not by words, but by works, and how we live.. I think Paul said something about that. I’m witnessing a lot of good works from people that don’t believe, in a terrible time. Don’t need to be like anyone else. Hard enough being me. We have a great example to live by..

  6. That was really cool and entertaining LOL you have a very interesting history. I remember you telling me about the Michael J fox thing about a year or so ago. I thought that was funny too LOL I’m heading south and I wanted to hear something kind of funny tonight so I thought I’d listen to the nutshell sermon, and yep I was right thanks again LOL good night my west coast friend

    1. brace yerself for the next one though.. I agonized over what to say about our current present darkness.. it’s out of nutshell characteristics.. but to ignore the circumstances seemed to make my efforts trivial

  7. That was the first album I heard of you. Have Yourself Committed been a fan ever since. Enjoy hearing your stories. They encourage me. God bless.

  8. Sorry to hear the disparaging comments from your Mum whom you loved dearly. Christ said that a prophet was despised in his own town and his own family castigated him when He conversed valuable things of God, delaying in the sinagogue, aged 12. So what is a prophet: one who hears the word of God and then speaks it out in God’s time to warn and edify the people, simples. Some even put it to music. Our parents are here to scaffold us into the human being that God created in His image. They don’t always get it right. But there remains the eternal and life energising Grace of God to heal all manner of pain.

  9. These little chapters of your biography are worth more than the price of admission. My first year of College was in 85. one of my best friends was a steve taylor fan. he went to your show and said you were high energy but the crowd of Taylor fans was a tough crowd. He sure didn’t mince words with we Don’t need no color code and we blew up the clinic real good. great stories!

  10. Absolutely enjoy hearing the ‘behind the scenes’ on your career! Glad your mom was encouraging. Sounds like my mom. Stay real. Committed was my first album I bought in 1986 at a jr high camp concert! Been addicted to your music ever since. Now my girls hear your songs. Friday, out at a race my daughter heard what we both thought was your song and we jumped up & down. I yelled “it’s Bryan” she says “I know but I’ve never heard him outside of our house!” So that’s my new goal find you in concert soon! The DJ played a song that you have recorded as well. The voice was NOT you; what I heard was the first few notes & associated it with your recording cuz I don’t listen to secular stuff. So fun to have my daughter share in your music. I don’t remember which song it was now. Bummer.

    1. I imagine the song you heard was Maybe I’m Amazed? .. I don’t cover a lot of other artists. that would be another career all together! LOL I do post on here under “Songs That Didn’t Make the Last Record” because music has changed beyond recognition these days.. Let me know where you are and I’ll remember to let you know if I’m within a 100 miles
