Perfecto!
During my chemotherapy, I was down in Mexico every 3 weeks and learned zero Spanish. You got me beat!
well I’ve learned over a lot o years.. you know h.s. was almost 60 years ago! LOL
Hope the chemo went well.
what were we talkin about? …
Your next effort is to translate I love with my life to Hebrew. We have a hymn book with tradidtional hymns translated to hebrew. I never, after all the years, got use to that. Amazing grace. We write our own based on psalms and other passages…
well you might have to sing it to me.. I’ve never heard Hebrew either in a modern song that would be interesting!
I would love to hear you cover some Simon & Garfunkel for sure.
I know a few words in Spanish; taco, burrito and chorizo. Other than that, I just usually speak English but at a much louder volume. Good show sir, thanks again!
LOL .. I coulda used these comments before I started.. I had a boss who would talk to spanish labors by adding “aly” .. like Digaly, workaly.. lol
Haha I had 1 yr of 8th grade Spanish. Didn’t learn much because our teacher was like Cheech and Chong and we would get a passing grade if we helped “hook a rug” for His classroom floor in multiple colors. Haha he was wild.
I can count to 10 when needed lol and say Mi Casa Su Casa hahaha
I could never roll my R sound so I just sounded like a dumb English person pretending to learn Spanish haha
I was good at rolling my RRRR’s it also came in handy when wearing a pirates custom on halloween
Mi lunático amigo!
You know it eh, one of my favourite Spanish expressions is “Dos cervezas por favor!”
My favourite Spanish story is about how the Chevrolet Nova sold poorly in Spanish-speaking countries because its name translates as “doesn’t go” in Spanish. But I just googled it and Snopes says that the story isn’t true so just shattered another one of my delusions eh.
And what is it with “Ojos de España” or “Spanish Eyes”? Seems everyone is singin’ ‘bout them like Engelbert Humperdinck, Bruce Springsteen, U2, Madonna, Backstreet Boys, Roger Whittaker, Charlie Rich, Al Martino, Dean Martin, God only knows who else. Here I always thought Spanish Eyes were dark and mysterious but everybody’s singing they’re blue? I’m just a lonely man in the middle I guess.
Vaya con Dios my darling
Vaya con Dios, vaya con Dios my love …
well I know that No Va would be no go! .. but then we have ‘wants’ and ‘once’ and auto correct doesn’t know tha difference
I continue to just LOVE these retrospectives for each album. Thank you for taking the time to put them together! For many years, I have always been super-curious about why in the world you had a Spanish album and now we know! Love it!
LOL… i did a few records simply because the record company asked me too.. next one comin like that is Quiet Prayers!
North Carolina Hispanic in Kingston. Wonder if that is a thing. Heard you were young when your dad was there. Pork Tacos would be Carnitas. BBQ is probably the best place to find pork down there. Loved your take on Spanish.
hope I did it justice .. yea I was in the 4th grade when we were in Kinston N.C. lived there for about three or four years.. don’t remember now… thanks for commenting
Actually, you speak and sing Spanish really well. Listened to a few again on Youtube and loved them. I think you underestimate all your talents.
thanks .. I’m posting my first ever attempt to write a song in Spanish.. the rough demo La Luz De Mi vida
Look forward to it.
Also love your current posting of Radio Rehab.
cool.. I haven’t been payin attention to those recently you might need to give me the title?
As you know, it has postings of your shows of Radio Rehab on the site. Makes good listening.
Good news I don’t check… it was never a source of income
Nunca, nunca, nunca mastiques chicle en clase! I had to write that many, many times because I wouldn’t follow these directions.
I was born in Guatemala, but adopted when I was 9 months old. Brought to the States, and my parents never taught me Spanish, but my dad spoke Spanish and French, besides English.
Took Spanish in junior high and got a C. That’s all I ever did. I still remember the dialogue. I keep thinking I should start learning Spanish with my neighbors since most of them speak it. And I’m not good at rolling my R’s.
I had pretty good diction in spanish.. I was just sayin the wrong things! LOL
Yo quiero taco bell…that’s about it for me. I don’t know why but the “me and Julio down by the school yard ” remark made me laugh out loud…Mucho gracias
Man, I had no idea there were so many Jesus in Music episodes. So I’ve been going through the archives and am having so many questions answered! Like in this one “How did it come about that he recorded a Spanish album???” It’s all right here!
thanks NK … just confirmed that I’m doing the right thing by replaying early episodes as many never heard em and they’re hard to find in the archives!
