  1. Nice one. Nose hairs have become a pesky problem for me as I’ve aged. How is it possible for me to go to sleep perfectly nose hair free and end up with a small bush there the next morning? I think it’s something God does to just prove to us that we will never have it all together.
    Thanks for sharing!

      1. Don’t feel bad, I preach every Wednesday night at my church and my daughter won’t even tune in on live stream LOL

        1. Girl’s probably feeling like she’s already stocked up for life, why come back for more? Sorry lol. If it’s any consolation: It’s oftentimes when adulting gets too hard you might find them orbiting back around to pick up something you might have to say.

  2. Heh you hairy-nosed movie-making musician!
I’ve been waiting for you to put into a nutshell, the tale about yer rapping, “Don’t Ya Wanna Rap?”.
Baby, I be wantin’ to hear more about that talkie ever since I heard it recently on Classic Christian Rock Radio.
Your fans are waiting with rapt anticipation eh?

    1. Not sure how I’m going to add the Rap story, but I’ve also forgotten about Z TV and Real Videos and Fire By Night christian versions of MTV none of that stuff will give me 8 minutes of reasonable happiness LOL

  3. The nutshells almost always make me laugh.. todays is no exception!
    I’m no crybaby..
So why is it that after all these years your music continues to pierce my heart and gets my eyes all watery..
    ya rascal ya!

  4. I watch music videos occasionally. But mostly I prefer letting my imagination create the video in my mind. So often the music video doesn’t match my own ideas.
Even with all that happened good and bad, I bet you don’t regret your career.

    1. I don’t regret my career but I have taken it for granted. no effort lives up to all your expectations though. and in pursuing a dream you’re always too busy to notice your ascent.. but I’ve learned that God’s will was do give me something to do that would get me up every morning. It’s the process more than the goal. I appreciate you hanging around my new process too by the way … thanks

  5. I’m with Kranky about the impact of your music. Sometimes when the whole world seems to spiraling and spinning like a 45, I just google Bryan Duncan songs and soothe the savage beast with something like “Maybe I’m Amazed”, Love Takes Time”, “Into My Heart”, and especially “Things Are Gonna Change” really helps to slow my RPMs back down to 33. Thanks man!

Just saw the Rap video! Baby, I wish I had fabulous hair like you eh? On my head I mean. Yer Bryan D, a screamin’ machine, tearin’ it up; loud if it’s clean!
Rap it up! I’ll take it!

    1. wow thanks for sayin’ means a lot. most of the time I wonder if anyone listens… especially now in podcast world. I’m gonna share yer comments with a few close friends friend ..

  6. Man this was so entertaining and fun, I listened to it twice!! LOL wouldn’t surprise me if you’d start traveling and speaking.

      1. Yeah I know, I thought about doing that on tick tock when I get certain thoughts or concepts during the day. But, I hadn’t done it yet, I probably should. But now they’re thinking about banning tiktok.

  7. Wow B , I’m always amazed when you go back and share how the sausage was made doing your back in the day recollections as a friend and fan it is greatly appreciated. I love this stuff its hilarious at times as well as giving us a small but poignant glimpse of the life and times of Bryan D and how you felt going through things.Keep em coming my boy keep em coming !

    1. Well Look who’s here.. CJ. nice of you to sign the comments on here. I think we only met that one time! and I have friends I’ve known my whole life that I barely rememeber and I recognize you right away LOL thanks for the encouragment

  8. I was an only child, so I didn’t have anyone to blame or use as an alibi, except the dog, and she wouldn’t speak.

I concur with everyone about your music. I’m usually listening to the radio while I’m in the car, but sometimes I just feel like I got to hear some music and since your CDs are stuck in both cars, I get to listen to you all the time. And sometimes something hits me that I think would help someone else, and I’ll either post it or share it with that person. You done good, Bryan. And I’m loving these nutshell sermons even if I can’t always get to them. But I will eventually.

    1. I see you more than most of the listeners RM! thanks for commenting and listenin when you can.. and I had a CD stuck in my car too.. it was still in there when I sold it! ROFL

      1. I’m hoping before we junk either car or sell them We can get those CDs out. If I can’t, I’ll just have to get another one. I won’t mind that.

  9. I can’t wait to hear about yer rap song – the one that convinced me that you can be Christian and still have a sense of humor! Cause you know, in some holy circles any humor was frowned upon.
Had to listen to this twice, stopping to search out the videos. I’m so loving hearing your stories! I’ve always appreciated you being real, open and honest. You da man! (And not just for being brave enough to climb up the mountain and stand there whilst a helicopter circles – although that definitely proves that you’re braver than I am!)

    1. Hi HWS! So glad you’re enjoying the color commentary.. I never started Nutshells to tell the back stories and then I saw that the Jesus music and revolution movies left me out completely. I just finished the episode next up that covers. the “Don’t ya Wanna Rap” its titled “MTV & PTL”

  10. Love the cover of that video, I’m not sure it made here or I would have bought it. Your recollections are hilarious. Those nay sayers must have been so demoralising. Yes, Justin Timberlake also shot a video recently in the Bradbury Building.

      1. Yeah but I get huge ahole creep vibes from JT. There’s something about him, and I don’t mean that in a good way. That would be a shitty trade-off imho. Don’t ever change.

  11. “No matter how full the room got, I always focused on the empty seats…”
Yeah, I know how that feels: I can get compliments all day, but it’s always that one rude remark that turns into the 20th century Fox intro while the compliments become the fine print crawl along the bottom. That’s just human nature to do that.

I’m an L.A. girl, I know all about the Vasquez canyon rocks, the Bradbury building, the Santa Clarita set where you shot the slow revival album cover. My high school was Ulysses Grant down in the valley, the one used for the high school in Power Rangers & Saved by the Bell. It wasn’t as fun as it sounded.

Some people express their need for satisfying their sense of moral good and their need for attention by complaining. It’s unfortunate that’s the wrong way to go about it, in a lot of ways that’d take up too much space to explain lol. But I’m glad you can tell the difference.
