Love this. Love all your stories.
Your music and career is just as important as all those other people. And your honest thoughts about it all makes you more relatable and I am honored to have you as my lunatic friend. More friend than lunatic though.
thanks.. “My Stories Old but it’s never slow” LOL thanks for resonating Linda Oh!
That was refreshing! These days we hear too much about the duplicity in the lives of Christian celebrities. Kudos for sharing that some Christian celebrities are as genuinely nice behind the scene as they seem on stage.
thanks for sayin Carol… the ones I met on that tour displayed amazing humility
As the deer is so tender and soothing it always puts me beside the still water. It instantly became a go to for me because I’m usually the deer caught in the headlights. I’ve noticed mostly that the Lord usually brings that song to mind when I’m driving.. now I wonder why that is..
LOL I shoulda said somethin about Deer in the Headlights! LOL thanks for yer insight
This is one of my favorites. Isn’t that the way, when you think one thing’s going to happen in the opposite does, like both award shows for you?
I Love You With My Life… The greatest sacrifice. Where would we be without it?
Thanks again LF. Hugs
Hi Robbin thanks for bein a sound board rather than a sound bored! LOL
I always love your candid honesty about situations and people, though in this case I think you underrated yourself. My Utmost..His prayers is an outstanding worship album; it’s a tribute to the Lord through both your creative and humble sides, just as your music spans seven genres for several generations. It’s one of my favorite albums and I’m sure being on tour with the others gave you insights for creativity. The album is lovely and it flows well. It’s a special place in your vast career.
HI JZ! thanks for encouraging me..
I have always enjoyed your creative and honesty regarding people and situations. Though the artists on this tour are great in CCM and Gospel today none have careers spanning seven genres for several generations + international versions. I think it’s natural that you would all compare each other on a tour, and in your case, you added to it with My Utmost…His highest Silent Prayers. The album is unique because it flows beautifully and mixes well to include Bryan’s Prayer first…Bryan’s Hymn last, the one we remember most.
Hi Jane.. I’ve only recently begun to do “When I Turn To You” from that project.
Love that album.
and now after 3 decades I’m slow enough to actually play something off this project in concert! LOL Hi J.. thanks..
I love hearing your back stories. Interesting how during your rough times God was using you and all the artists you just named to work in my will, to give me comfort and encouragement as I was going through my rough times. I never had the honor of seeing you in person, Bryan, but I did get to see Twila Paris live in Milwaukee area. What sweet ointment for our soul music is that the Father has given us. Have a blessed week brother.
Cool to hear about your back story to my back story too! S.D. good to hear from ya
Saw this tour in Grand Rapids, Michigan where it was being filmed. Not sure if it ever was completed-seems there were a fair number of “let’s do that one over” that night. Amazing evening of some amazing talent singing amazing music. For better or worse, my memories come with the feelings attached. That was a special night and the music was just what I needed.
you were there? I remember that.. absolutely hated the ‘do overs’ in front of an audience! glad you were ok with it! BEC..
Great stories! I have most of the SCC albums so it’s nice to know he is a nice guy. I don’t own any Sandi Patti records as they were not my style but it is interesting to hear about her entertaining around a piano. So often we only see people in a single light – I guess that’s why I like funerals as you often discover things about people you never knew. These two albums are not on my regular rotation although I often put on a heart like mine when listening to a good stereo. It was worthy of song of the year.
Thanks DC! for your vote of confidence.. Sandi just came out at a festival date and sat at that piano and basically did an unplugged show.. I was amazed at how comfortable she was
These are two of my favorites. Whether you realize it or not, you do those really worshipful songs so well. Your heart really comes through…. It’s always fun to hear little tidbits about those you rubbed elbows with as well.
Good to know.. pickin stories too that won’t aggrivate those artists now can be a challenge too! in this case I had nothing but love fer these kids!
Dc Talk’s song that win song of the year that year was “Jesus Freak” – I remember because I happened to be in the audience that night. Only time I ever got to attend.
Loved the “Quiet Prayers” album!!
Yea, I got half the title right.. “JEsus” was in there.. it was so discouraging… like losing the superbowl.. it’s why the next year I didn’t go out in the audience when I won insp album of the year!

Thanks SO MUCH for signing my vinyls last weekend at MercyGate!!! Meant a LOT!!
no prob BD! we even have the same initials! LOL wasn’t sure if I should personalize it.. not everybody wants that.. they sometimes see the record as a collectors piece! but sure happy to do it!
I love the details of the journey. I need to go back and listen to this record. Honestly I could tell which records you had more input on. They have more life, more vitality and honesty . I remember I liked this record it just wasn’t as definably you all the way.
I think the labels thought we couldn’t tell what was a label invention vs a real heartfelt album from the artist. It’s been a while so I’ll go back and listen to it. With so many details in this one, the stand out was “”Ah man I miss Kenny Rogers Roasters!”. Lol. I was a fan of Kenny’s in my kid days. Nothin cooler than “The Gambler”. I think that’s the first cassette I had before my CCM conversion. . Then Kenny made Chicken and I was a huge fan!
LOL Kenny Rogers Roasters felt like Christmas dinner!
This is one of my favorite albums of yours. I still play it often. Every song feels warm, soothing, and heartfelt. I don’t care if it wasn’t your usual style; your desire to know God, to be God’s child, came through, and in a style that was striking, not just as a departure from your usual, but there was something that, perhaps a yearning unspoken, that I caught in your expression of these songs. The opening and closing songs… I must have played them both a thousand times, no exaggeration. I still do.
This album, together with an album by Fernando Ortega, are my two albums I play when I am just wanting to more quietly, more contemplatively, ‘be’ with my God.
Thank you for this album. Thank you for putting yourself into it, even if you didn’t actually want to.
wow thanks for the kind remarks. A. that longing is always there reguardless of the tempo.. honestly I couldn’t listen to uiet Prayers all in one sitting for several years! LOL
Hi Bryan. It’s been a year since this nutshell was done..listened to sermon and read comments from then and realized I had 3 or 4 here and 1 now a year later. You did deserve spiritual album of the year! Thanks for reminding me you did this!
I forget what I did all the time.. thank God I can google myself! LOL
Hi Bryan…it’s been another year! Your reminder is so timely cause it’s Sunday my day of worship…day to listen to this…. the world has changed so much…nutshellsermons today is grief so appropriate here and everywhere . I am shocked by grief violence and anger spinning out of control…we need Quiet Prayers now more than ever! God bless you Bryan and keep you safe
I forgot what I said on this post! but thanks for commenting
