  1. Curmudgeons for Christ, I love it! I like being a Lunatic Friend of Bryan Duncan, but joining the curmudgeons for Christ. Sounds like a whole lot of fun. Thanks again for doing these Brian. It’s really nice to see your hero and where he’s at in life, and that he’s still serving Jesus

  2. People (older Christians) would shake their head when I told them that I listen to CCM. All the names you mentioned I liked their music and was not ashamed to tell people how much the music spoke to me about Jesus. There was one guy that sounded as though he was folling me around and watching every move I made. That guy was Bryan Duncan. When asked why CCM was so important to me, I would say ” Fanny Crosby was once a contemperary Christiab artist”.

    1. nice.. Fanny had more songs in the hymnal than anybody.. and now few would recognize her name.. that’s how fast we disappear.. mean time Christ is still mentioned!

  3. The world of CCM is fairly new to me…I enjoy traveling through the history and present artists and songs, podcasts. Thank you Bryan for sharing your experiences with me down the road of praise in music .

  4. Oh man! I knew almost every name on your list, except 1 or 2. I grew up in the 60’s and experienced the Jesus Revolution and especially the Jesus People from Chicago and Res Band (which was originally Resurrection Band). I met Larry Norman at a Jesus Festival in Pennsylvania in the mid 70’s. Around 2001, I reconnected with him via his fan club (Solid Rock Army) and spoke on the phone with him a few times, but mostly communities via email. As he became increasingly sick in the year before his death, he spoke frequently about his legacy and even brought up his regrets with Randy Stonehill. Although I didn’t really “know” him, there was a connection.

    1. Hey # E’s been a while good to hear from ya’s … yea He n Stoner had their fallin out .. but man there’s a dark side to everybody.. I left out so many others.. like Russ Taff, and Take Six .. Tom Howard .. well lets not start up again

  5. Hard to grasp that all those artists have passed already.
I was shocked when Carman passed. But life moves along fast sometimes.
They also talk about generation gap, when talking to those younger than me. I have noticed on some things you talk to them about you have to also explain it to them lol getting older is a strange time haha
Music is the universal language they say so it seems like all genres especially Christian music would still get as much air play and attention as the other forms.
I think they should just call it all music not make it into categories.
It’s nice to stay in touch with artist/friends you have known. If you made a list of all the ones you have met or known etc it would probably be a long list haha. Love these nutshells about all of those days

    1. Hi L O . well you know money has to be made and that’s why we invent catagories.. even then Genre’s change even within themselves.. glad yer liking these JnM series .. they’re hard to come up with in the way of details.. it’s such a blurr now!

  6. Love You Brian, glad I tunned in this morning brought back memories! miss seeing you at the Roadhouse Biker Church SB thanks for all you do and share hope to see you again soon.
    Be ~safe~

  7. I think the only Larry Norman song I know is I wish we’d all been ready. I was happy when DC Talk revived it. These nutshells will be fun. I always like to hear about these artists.

    1. Oh my .. I never saw all three together.. Larry had some legit blues players with him .. guys a sharp suits, skinny black men in the 80’s LOL prolly originals from St. Lous or memphis! LOL

  8. Larry Norman was in a group called People! They had a one hit wonder back in mid sixties called I Love You. Really a good song. Rod Argent wrote it for the Zombies, but I have to admit Larry took it home… Jesus People and Rez were only about 100 miles NE of us..so in the early days they would head closer to our area and hand out their paper Cornerstone at outdoor concerts.

  9. looking forward to this new segment as these artist have all impacted us and many we will never know much about outside of their music. your perspective and experiences will be interesting sermons. curious if this will sound like the old vh1 shoes. “and when we return, Michael English hits rock bottom” Here’s a few names that come to mind for no apparent reason. Billy Sprague, Wayne watson, Kathy tricoli, Greg x volz, AD/kerry livgren, whiteheart/Dann huff, petra, Steve camp

  10. Thank you, Bryan. Yeah, I’ve always felt like I didn’t fit in. Back in the 80s and 90s it was Jesus and your music, as well as some others’ music, that helped me make it through my deep depression. I’m a lot better now, and thankful that I can now be empathetic and understanding of people going through long-term struggles, that other people just don’t understand. We can’t pull ourselves up by our bootstraps!
“Through the darkness, I always knew you were here. A glimmer, a speck in the distance drawing nearer. Now your light has broken through, and I can see… who you meant for me to be”
