Wow you were with a lot of freakin bands Bryan! And all of them were great …I remember seeing the stand-up Amy Grant at one concert..awesome idea ! I’m so glad we’ll be doing 8 nutshell sermons on Jesus n Music in your history with songs around this time. O and thanks for the YouTube clip of Kevin at Costa Mesa and the concert…love them both!
yer welcome.. enjoy this one its a rerun for way back when I started the Jesus n Music segment
great stories! fans always assume artists are living large because they’ve made it because they have hit songs and are selling albums. The CCM market is a bit small compared to secular radio. So much good music came out of CCM from the 80s through the 2000s and then it either stopped or got old. glad I got to live through it.
I know right … genre that disappeared
Love these stories lol
Love Strong Medicine and Stand In My Place.
The hair was great too. Lol
The hair style worked well when you slept in the van all night on the way to the next gig
BC had the long EVHalen thing going on. He even used it in Crying In The Chapel. I was used to Elvis’ version and BC turned that song upside down! The harmonies were perfect. Have you heard his version of Last Train To Glory? On one of his solo albums and he made it into a completely unique version of that oldie. It’ll make your eyes sweat.
His bgv’s are still flawless! too
All this AND leather pants ?
Yes a regrettable choice,, they’re for tall skinny rockers..
I saw both of you at Melodyland and the music was awesome. BC played Amazing Grace and another song on his guitar during the Allies “break “ for some water and BC made his guitar sound like he was playing 2 at the same time. He definitely spent a lot of time with his guitar effects units at home. He is definitely a professional musician and knows his craft/equipment probably better than whoever sold it to him. It shows in his music.
yea.. he was better than I imagined.. least he got his due as a writer!
Your getting everybody to leave at the same time story reminded me of when I was in Continental Singers. Trying to get 30 musicians on the bus in the morning. They would threaten us with leaving us behind to get to the next concert on our own….they actually followed through more than once I hear. It terrified me so much I was always on time…lol
LOL don’t remember you mentioning Continental Singers.. or maybe you did .. I told somebody, I tried out for the Continentals .. but I had to buy my own outfits.. LOL Couldn’t afford it
They could be spendy lol…yes Continentals and one of their small groups Act One Company. Similar to Jeremiah People
I member both skit outfits.. I woulda fit right in there..
Yes you would have…
Thanks for sharing these old stories. I love your music and Allies is my favorite band of all-time. What’s Bob Carlisle up to these days I. Never hear anything about him anymore?
well Bob doesn’t need the money now LOL .. he lives in Las Vegas but he’s writing songs with me mostly for fun.. but we’ll see what we could do with em… You’d love “My Tears Won’t Dry” a song we just finished .. that’s reminiscent of his Feather in My Cap approach to music! ROFL
