Weakest Link On The Musician Ship
The project brought us high marks, but it wasn’t my favorite. Why? because it was humbling bein around so much outrageous talent. I was the weakest link.

I Love You with My Life….one of THE greatest all time songs. ALL TIME!!!
Hi Windee! nice to hear from ya.. still the most played song I do in concert too.. humbling.. it’s like the stone the builders rejected story.. Bob Wilson did not much care for my voice for some reason..maybe because he was used to hearing his wife’s voice in Seawind Pauline had a thinner sound that cut thru a horn section tho..
Would you send me a MP3 of the music please so I can sing it to the homeless when I minister to them?
there are nine songs on this.. I’ll send you “I Love You With My Life” as that’s what I was talking about on this episode… check yer inbox..
you surivied all that n are doing just fine n i loved i love you with my life keep going my friend
thanks I had no real choice.. LOL it was my one thing I could do! keep comin back
I have always been amazed at your vocal talent.
hey M.R. is this my alumni friend.. ? good to see yer still around too! LOL thanks just tryin to stay busy
I love this song by sweet comfort band
hey first time commenting looks like Hi JP welcome to the back row
God takes the weakest in order to make his purpose stronger.
The result was evident in the Album “Have Yourself Committed”.
You did just that!
But it had to be a sweet reunion as all came together as “Fine Aged Wine” to re- live the moments.
I can imagine Kevin Thompson saying “ It’s not in vain driving that Bus”
If all of us rejoiced in your singing once again then “ It’s a Well Done”.
Kevin is responsible for keep this band moving
Love hearing the story behind the album! I loved it and my favorite song was “I Love You with My Life”. I just played it for Butch and he loves it!!! He spent so much time r in Chicago as a young man and actually heard Billie Holiday live and he loved the Trumpet solo! We listened to a live version.
Glad Butch is still reminiscing CM.. thanks for sharing
Love You With My Life a classic you are still singing.
Seems like you are better than you give yourself credit for haha.
here’s where maybe we best not trust how we feel about it..
I love and agree with God’s wink to you!
So glad you stayed true to Him and His message and kept coming back!
thanks for listening. I almost didn’t tell the truth here.. little embarrassing that at our best we’re still self focused LOL
Hey…you played the intro to Isabel live!
yea.. that was several years later .. I started gettin serious about playin too..
Wait a minute. It sounds like you and Bob Wilson and Hutchcraft really had it going on when you did the Blue Skies recording.
well eventually they did notice I was doin my own records LOL so musta been better than Bob thought.
Wow that voice sounded just like you Bryan…and it was lead..it’s a perfect song . Horns were great..but then everything you do is outstanding Bryan and I’m sure it takes hard work discipline and temperance..now there’s a word!…you’ve got all three!
not sure Temperance is a stong suit fer me LOL Jane E
If I describe the song it’s Bryan Duncan and Horns
well thanks.. but I traded off every other line usually .. with Randy Thomas on the rockin stuff..
Hold On Tight and Breakin’ the Ice were two of my favorite albums for a long time. I bought the cassettes initially, then the LP’s and them the CD’s. I still have the CD’s.
Thanks for the stories. It’s cool to hear what was going on back then when those of us who were listening had no idea of what was happening behind the scenes.
Hi Bob.. thanks hard for me to remember I did this second episode just last week as I’m remembering stuff as I spend more time looking back.. which is what we seem to be doing at this age! Nice to see you BOB-L
You should go find Bob Larson on the Blurry Creatures podcast. Good stuff!
I look into it.. Bob Larson was on here .. never mentioned his podcast
I’m not that Bob Larson. I’m just someone who has the same name as a more famous, or infamous, person.
LOL thanks for the clarification.. no change of respect BoB
Thanks for the song. It is a key point in my faith
I forgot which ones I talked about on this … oh yer meaning Love You with my life I magine
First SCB album I bought. Went to about 4 Nor Cal shoes, one in particular show at a club in SF. The song Valerie was requested, but you said “sorry, we never released that one.” I could totally relate to that situation.
funny when I went solo I used to sing that one over my own ‘girl name song’ Isabel .. this was Randy’s song..
When I hear Sweet Comfort Band I hear your vocal Bryan, and also over the horns. You can be modest if you like but you indeed are the legend Bryan and you alone have such a unique beautiful voice! You are recognized every time and everywhere cause no one can do it like you! I believe that’s hard work and persevering though you were born to sing!!
Kind of you.. but startin’ out you know how yer just not sure what yer doing? .. no wait.. that’s still true in yer 70’s LOL
My first Christian album bought at a concert in Greeley, CO 02/19/1979 Gave my life to Messiah early that morning and went to the concert that night. Got rid of all my secular albums the next day. Melody, Harmony was my favorite song for a long time.
what a great endorsement for all those years Bo.. means a lot to know here you still stand and deliver.. Praise God
Loved I love you with my life ♥️ and when I first heard it there’s no question ♥️ written from God’s point of view…a great song and must have been divine intervention cause it’s so timeless and accurate ❤️ especially when you wrote it in a hurry and performed it ❤️ I immediately !
I had to go back to the record and listen to remember what I did ! LOL
Loved love ❤️ can listen and relax forever. I’m glad you did some love songs Bryan cause it’s definitely what we all need now and will always. Your voice is like velvet and the words are so soft and clear. Thank you for doing this !
yer welcome…Jane E
I was a big fan of SCB in the early 80s – saw you guys numerous times at venues like Ichthus in Wilmore, KY. Later my (future ) wife and I saw you solo at Asbury College circa 1985.
Bob Wilson and Tommy Funderburk headlined the group The Front right around 1984. Loved their music. Many years later I discovered their band What If which was more of a mainstream band.
Hi Brian .. I remember those gigs well Ichthus .. had permanent mud on my flight cases from that gig one year.. and yes Asbutry College was great
I loved SCB – I got to hear you guys multiple times at places like Ichthus in Wilmore,KY. A few years later my soon to be wife and I heard you solo at Asbury College in Wilmore, circa 1985.
I remember Bob Wilson and Tommy Funderburk from the bands The Front and What If. Really good music that didn’t get solid airplay back then. Just like with SCB, I still pull out the old music from time to time.
THESE WONDERFUL STORIES NEVER CEASE TO AMAZE ME, CAUSE WHEN YOU TELL THEM IT MAKES YOU FEEL AS THOUGH YOU ARE RIGHT THERE ! MAN THIS IS THE CLOSES THING TO A TIME MACHINE WE’LL EVER GET ! KEEP EM COMING MY BRUTHA KEEP EM COMING !
Thanks.. I do my best to not sound boring
