12 Replies to “Dear God Yer Not Following My Plan”
Just like the verse says about our plans not being his plans. I love my plans. But he seems to have better ideas than me that I would never think of. So I’m at 69, close to 70 and following the same path. Not sure how many more years I have, but we’ll see what God’s plan is.
I always ask myself, how much does God actually get involved. I’m thinking he gets involved when we invite him to. I think he leaves us to our own devices. I have to ask myself how much have I allowed God to turn me in the right direction?
Thanks for that Bryan. Got me thinking…
A friend of mine was born in 54. His first child will turn 2 this December. He told me “Better late than never” Who knows What God has in store for us. His timing is always perfect but I often wonder how my decisions or lack of action delay His plan or cause me to “miss out”
Hi DC! thanks for sayin … my favorite quip is from Anthony Campolo “God can still draw a straight line with a crooked stick” LOL… I’m sure that’ll be in a nutshell soon
Well, being some years past your 70-yr marker, I can say that my own plans were mostly changed or cancelled. I could not always see I was headed the wrong way and He often waited for me to see it. Sometimes my plans had me traveling a while on a rough road, but He didn’t let me drive off the cliff. So here I am, still on the way, nowhere near where I thought I would be and thankful for His continued intervention. His plans have turned out to be so much better than mine!
Err, um, remember having a huge argument with someone about this one. And also lots of arguments with God about the same. Have learned that living life every day and sometimes with every encounter everyday with continual verbalised surrender to His will and praising Him in all situations works. I have a friend who regularly reminds me that ” you have not because you ask not.” and so am on a journey of consciously involving Him in everything I do and in conscious obedience to His will, because life works out better that way.Quite a discipline, but seems to be working.

Perfectly said. I feel the same way from time to time. At times, thinking my plans are always the best way. I get in my own way quite often.
