  1. I love that you ended up walking into your calling without even knowing that’s what you were doing. Classic God stuff right there. He never gives us the whole picture, sometimes it’s just one piece of the puzzle.
I’m excited to hear your stories from your solo career Bryan, I’ve always loved all the behind the scenes stuff in movies, and I’m finding I love them in your story too. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Love these stories!
It does amaze me that the large talent you have, that sometimes you don’t feel it makes an impact.
Man it always does! Never forget that.
What did your dad think about your house and the white picket fence when he visited? Guess he probably focused on his grandsons lol. Thanks for sharing your life with us.

    1. Hi LO!not sure my dad knew what to think of what I was doing.. as a pastor it was different than anything he knew.. other than he sang music in ministry with mom too, but it was ‘acceptable’ at the time!He would eventually be proud

  3. $750…Suddenly I found my youth. Money talks. Transitioning from a band to a contractor to a solo artist. It is amazing to see how God orchestrates our lives.
From an orphanage in Guatemala, to places in-between because of Army life (I’m such a brat), to California where I worked, got married, and raised our kids. Now I’m retired and I’m not sure where to go from here. But like you said, God can use us where we are. I just need to open my ears and listen to him.
Thanks for your nutshell gems each week.

    1. Hi Robbin, like I said time seems to creep when you don’t know where yer going.. it was three years of nothin even recently before I started this podcast after concerts had dried up! I think God likes playin the little trust game.. where you fall backwards blindfolded.. and he catches you!>

      1. Bryan, thank you so much for these nutshell sermons!
For your thoughts and experiences during those years.
It brings much to mind of my own experiences, even regarding the music industry, albeit on a much smaller scale, playing with Rich Mullins before he became famous, running a music department at a Christian bookstore, volunteering at ICHTHUS during the ’80s and ’90s.
Thank you, for just being you! And letting God use that.
One comment from this nutshell. My wife and I recently moved, one of my son’s friends said; This must be the last waterbed in America! LOL
…As my wife forced them to pile the pieces on the curb.

        1. LOL! we have a shared background.. including an unempressed wife at our choices of furniture! ROFL Thanks for sharing Jon. cool that you knew Rich.. such an awful way to go out for him..

    1. who knew I’d have something to say even revisiting my story.. we never seem to take notes on what we learned unless we tell our stories! thanks for encouragement Rolly! sure means a lot to me

  4. I love hearing the stories. It helps to know that things don’t always work out the way we think they should. God is always at work. Keep up the great work!

  5. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing. Interesting how things work out when we don’t get in the way of ourselves.. God does his thing….

  6. I was 29 and a new believer, it was 1985 and I had 3 daughters and a son on the way.. wife wasn’t up for it but my 3 little gals were all in. Saw you at Central Christian Church in Mesa Arizona.. had never heard of SCB, in fact didn’t know about them until 10 years later when I found SCB The Light Years at the Jesus Chapel Book Store in Scottsdale Arizona. Now my children and their children are hooked on Duncan.

  7. Love hearing the story about how you began your career…now you know where you’ve been…can see where you’re going and flicker where you will be!! Lol
