We would agree with you but the flip side. I do not like to pray for people in person but I hate even more so saying I will pray for them and never think twice. My bride being a volunteer chaplain very shy has taught me that when you are Jesus conscious and you pray in the situation of “pray for me” it encourages the person and a touch of love from you and God to the requested. And I am humbled to do such on the scene by swallowing a lot of pride embarrassment. I agree with you concerning the prideful one that wants to make a speech publicly. Love your sermons you make me think and check myself. Too bad that cat isn’t a dog. Hahaha
“Hold you up in prayer.” I’m pretty sure you meant as in keeping you from going to your next thing because the praying person wants to pray right then.
Humorous as always, as well as insightful sir. Thanks again for doing these, you’re stuff is one of my fave things to share on social media.
Hmmmm. Well when we go out for an extended period I always pray God will protect our home and critters. Sorry, love my Husky. Insurance companies come in later.
I agree 100% regarding overused prayer which is, as you hinted, self serving. I do believe however, there are times when some one should go to an elder of a congregation and ask for prayer. (Asking is key word here) . May God protect my house and critters today while we’re out…
Sometimes people who don’t have an agenda behind their prayers that are of self-gratification just may actually mean well its hard to sort that out sometimes unless you really know them. You kinda just trust God to please keep the ones who He listens to praying for you ! When praying for others i just try to put myself in their situation and ask how would l want someone to honestly pray for me and then I try to do that. For me that is taking it to my prayer time at home. There I won’t put them off and i won’t feel awkward to me that’s a win win scenario.
Hey man. I recently volunteered to be a greeter and now I realize that God wants to use me to pray out loud for people. It’s stretching my faith. I’ve always been a closet prayer. Thanks for reminding me praying is about God not me.
I always feel guilty when I say “I’ll pray for you”, and then I don’t or I do it very quickly. When I’m on Twitter, as I’m scrolling, if I see someone who needs prayer, I’ll pray for them right then. And that’s the only time I pray for them. I was going to start writing down the request, but then it would be so many. I do try to keep tabs, though. I have prayed and have been prayed for when I’ve been on a phone call.
Thanks for praying for me.
Well,as a bit of a pray-er myself, I do most fervently believe in the power of prayer. The churches have abandoned the book of Enoch, but I have read it and it is consistent with the other books of the bible. In it, there is a passage that deals with how prayers are dealt with in the heavenly realm and the mobilisation of angels. I have seen miracles through prayer and have been prayed for by others who care for me and seen extraordinary things happen. Even now, people have been praying for rain in this country going through El Nino and widespread devastating bushfires again. I have seen deluges of rain that have time and again not been predicted by the weather forecast even from the night before and I am talking about as recently as yesterday and repeatedly in the last two months. The key is believing that God will hear your prayer with ardent faith and that He will do something. The exact scripture eludes me at the moment. Also ” you have not because you ask not,” committing the details of every day to Him. I am on a learning curve with this but realising that my lack of faith and trust has affected my life in the past. I am fortunate to have others who do intercede on my behalf with a real and understated faith. So much has been bastardised especially recently by the commercialisation of religion. It is now a season where such entities are now being exposed for utter corruption and debauchery and reaping what they have sown, after enacting such destruction on the lives of so many. No man can worship God and mammon. However, what the Word says about prayer is real and practised by many unassuming quiet humble people with effect. Tennyson said ” more things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.” My grandma quoted this offen and prayed the family through two depressions , two world wars and her eldest son out of Changhi prison camp. She was generous to a fault and never lacked in her life. Please keep praying, which is simply talking to God. Please choose to trust that He has it all in His hands. This has been a battle for me also.
Watch the cat comments….they have their place too! Lol…
Preferring not to be prayed for on the spot seems more of a cat quality.
I tend to not ask for prayer in person to avoid that situation. My cousin would sometimes say, “I will pray as God brings it to mind.” I’m not sure if that’s the way to go either. The Word says pray without ceasing. That’s my goal.
I have learned that if I don’t pray in the moment, it’s about a 95% chance I won’t pray at all.
Love the humor though.
And also love reading the comments of the fellow lunatic friends… learn a lot from them too.
I pray right away with the person cause that’s the way my pastor does …he says its cause he might forget and it’s better when person is there holding hands too…the honest thing is that I copy what he says and does cause he’s anointed and I trust him…..I trust you too cause you’re ministering to me on the back row which I imagine is pretty difficult LOL
I grew up in church.. and different ones all the time.. I never came to trust anyone in church..as a Preacher’s kid, I saw all the palitics and pretentions.. from the back row so to speak.. so I give you my take even as I recover from all that. Jesus is still the main thing

yea I suppose I lack a proper perspective in the way of prayer.. hope I’m working on that!
Watch the cat comments….they have their place too! Lol…
