  1. what a great nutshell sermon. learning to be thankful for His faithfulness when we can’t see our answers. in doing so we often realize our wants are not our needs and our timing can get off with the beat of His tune. awesome stuff … keep these things coming.

      1. Yeah we have a tendency to manage a list of things we want but never say “thank you”.
Pick up a Jewish prayer book sometime. And look at the structure. You’ll be surprised. Then read the Lord’s prayer. Same structure….iake it a habit to recite some of those prayers and use the structure in mine. Cause it’s way to easy to focus on the wrong stuff.

  2. It seems like I’ve heard that phrase since I was young too….complaining about what I don’t have and not thanks for what I do…I think it’s my mom who said it too…both parents said it a lot…I also didn’t think I was cute and I was!

  3. If 2020 taught me anything it was to be more aware and grateful for what we have and even more for what God is already working on for us in our future needs. I love all of these nutshells…I’m a bit backed up on them, but it seems to be the perfect timing when I listen to one…kinda like being in church feeling like the pastor is talking right to YOU ONLY

  4. Gratitude is different than “positive thinking” or being an optomist. Some people I know just can’t deal with the reality of a situation. So, it is a defense mechanism to not see a negative outcome on anything. While I agree seeing a dark cloud behind every silver lining is pessimistic, and I am trying to keep a positive attitude while fighting a cancer battle at the moment, but I am trusting God is working His will and I can trust Him. Looking for preparing for possible negative outcomes is not being a Debbie Downer. I mean, when I board a plane, I hope the pilot runs through all the preflight checklists…..”just in case” in stead of “Hey never had a problem so far, let’s just get up in the air”

    1. well said.. Anon.good to hear from you and what you’re dealing with. I can’t pretend to know the weight of your circumstance personally. Anything I might add to your thoughts right now would sound remarkably ‘cut and paste’. But let me say.. I’m so glad to hear from. Honored that you would share it with me too! It’s no small thing.

    1. Hey James..thanks fer lettin me know yer on it! looks to be the first time commenting thanks.. just for the ego post of course.. I don’t forget people like I used to.. I just ferget everything else! LOL

  5. I try to pray when things go wrong but when everything does I’m overwhelmed and it seems like my blessings are slipping through my fingers…why didn’t I pray all the time?

  6. Ok…you nailed it! I like to think I’m a positive person but I’m not so sure. I’m thinking God wired my brain this way but that doesn’t mean I can’t still thank Him. I need to work on that.
