  1. Keep it up, Bryan, I just came across this site today and it is already a favorite! It is so hard to believe the “guy” I first was introduced to in 1986; attended one of his concerts in Stockton, CA on my first wedding anniversary in 1989 (yes, I let my wife come along), is still dishing out phrases that make so much sense in ways no one else could… at 70ish!!!

    1. wow nice to hear from ya after this week. My nutshellsermons didn’t go over well with the liturgical crowd.. I come off incredibly chaotic! had trouble sittin thru a Lutheran service on sunday! LOL

  2. Keep it up, Bryan!!! I just came across this site today and it is already a favorite! It is so hard to believe the “guy” I first was introduced to in 1986; attended one of his concerts in Stockton, CA on my first wedding anniversary in 1990 (yes, I let my wife come along), is still dishing out phrases that make so much sence in ways no one else could… at 70ish!!!

Bryan, I love your “Redemption” story (I know to you it is call life) and I’m so happy that you refuse to be cancelled and you continue to call it like you see it.

  3. You are not alone in this. So hard to Be Stil and Know that I am God. But worth the effort, from experience. Some times, He just places you on your derriere so you have to listen.

  4. Just a personal opinion. I think you’d agree, this world is goin too fast. Everything’s an app, there’s no tellers at the bank. Now you shop and pay your bills automatically. We’ve lost control of our own well being. So while it’s nice to just press return on the keyboard, I think we need to slowdown. How do we find God when we don’t don’t slow down long enough to read the signs. (Or the good book). I love my mornings. I click an app listen to Bryan. Say a prayer, read a chapter ( not everyday), but it’s a little bit of sanity. Slow down and smell the coffee. That’s what I say…

  5. I’m going through a challenging time right now, wondering the “why’s”. But then the scripture states to “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING. In all your ways, seek his will and he will direct your paths. I’m trusting in the LORD, but the hard part is to not try and understand why. We get in trouble when that happens. We have the equation here. If we’d do 3/4 of it, he’ll make it happen. I like the quote from a commentary I read (not for this scripture). “Obedience is not based on my willpower, but on God’s power working in me.” This tends to be a struggle for me. I initiate my willpower to serve God, but that always fails! In asking God, “are we there yet”, the answer I get is, “you’ll know when you are.” Without faith it’s impossible to please God, right? 🙂 Another gear switcher (I tend to do that…LOL). Neighborhood Kids from Perfect Timing. Which is by far my favorite SCB album. What’s the story behind that? Is this something from your own experience? Did I miss a podcast where you talked about it?

    1. Neighborhood kids was about the boys next door… back in 84 had a garage band and played smoke on the water every day for hours! LOL I thought I talked about that one somewhere.. but you can always go back in the archives on Jesus n Music here most of the stories in “Jesus n Music”

  6. One last thing. How can I get your book, “Dear God, Really”. I looked on Amazon and the prices are outrageous! Paperback used is $230.00! I see a Kindle digital version, but I don’t have a Kindle.

    1. they price it that way because they don’t have any copies… donate to nutshellsermons.com/support when you can … I’ll send you the galley copy pdf to your email address with you leave that with your comment!

  7. Bryan I laughed until I stopped.
I find this with church life too and told my Pastor “when the Lord said come to me all you who are weak & weary and I will give you rest, I think something got lost in translation…”
I’m sure Jesus didn’t die to give us burn out.
Bryan keep going, I am encouraged!
