I think it’s really cool to hear about all the Christian artists and songs they contributed…Darrell’s contribution of the harp is a just right addition to songs for blues and in this case Jesus music…it’s wonderful that Darrell could change instruments and continue on with his music successfully…a man with a gift who chooses to share it with the world of CCM.
He has run his race at this point.. at the train station waitin on the Glory Train
Thank you, Bryan, for sharing this. I love Daryl‘s music. It seems, sadly, that often those that are the most gifted are also the most wounded.
it was hard for most of us.. around his woundedness as well.. sometimes all you can do is “Stand by them”
Thanks so much for these real sermons!
thanks Geoff I need the encouragment.. never quite sure where the story will go on any given week
Was Darrell with you at Flavo? I remember seeing the c concert with a guy who looked like him…I remember Chains from Cornerstone and for some reason didn’t connect it with blues…I know what you’re saying about bar blues…when I was vacationing in New Orleans went to hear a blues band…old fashioned…loved it! Bryan you’ve done every genre music there is.. that’s why I’ll keep keeping up with your emails and be happy to never be dismissed! Lol
I’m sure Darrell played in Europe but he wasn’t with us at all over there.. lot of the added players were local musicians in their own countries
Great tribute covering Darrell Mansfield. I do remember the birthday get together in 2019 and how tender the moment was when you greeted him. He played in that restaurant several times. One time I had stumbled across some 35mm slides of him performing in 1980 about the time Get Ready was released. He was genuinely excited to see them. Fun thing about that concert is the sheriff showed up because the sound level outside the venue far exceeded local city ordinances. That’s pretty rock and roll. His amps went up to 12.
Hey Ray! Good to hear from ya.LOL thats right you were at the B Day thang..that pic of me n him was the last one I took with him.. it was at that party
I wasn’t aware of Darrell until a couple of years ago…man, he could play that harp.
not sure why really talented people are ‘Disturbed in some way’ LOL
I LOVE HIS WORK ON CHAINS. From your best Album.
we coulda put him up in the mix but I wasn’t there when Phil Curry was mixing
