  1. good thing god knows what we are headed for betteer that we do ourselves and i love that song i love you with my life

  2. love your nutshell sermons, and your music. i hope your wife is doing better. Who was your favorite drummer you ever worked with in the studio and live?

    1. Hey DR .. had a lot o good drummers.. best all around guy ‘Live’ and in the studio.. is the one I’ve used in both arena’s Greg Bissonette! studio alone was Jeff Porcaro he was a bucket list best of all time..

  3. Hi Bryan D.—You were headed for a different kind of ministry—the music ministry. Lucky for us! What’s going on in that photo? I’m thinkin’ that’s your dad in the back—are you on the right?

    1. in the picture my foster brother Dan Addington and I (on the right) were depicting the new movie Cross n The Switchblade .. and my dad was pretending to be horrified! LOL

  4. Wow Bryan you were a CMA Christian Music Artist in college…no degree program…you were already a professional…your dad got you playing guitar and singing in church before that. Hopefully there’s a professional school, was it Vanguard? I’m So Impressed my special friend !

    1. my official college studies were sporadic.. as my A.D.D. was not helpful.. there was Southeastern University in Lakeland Fla. and Vanguard University in Costa Mesa Ca. .. both were just small Christian colleges when I was there..

  5. Finding out about your before solo work, has been neat!
Love the hippy vibe you got to experience firsthand in California and Florida, & everywhere you toured then. My mom was in California mid 1960’s. She experienced the Watts riots, was terrified bc people were throwing large rocks off of bridges and she was driving on the highways at the time.
Really dig that when you sing snippets of the 60’s-70’s music you nail the spirit of the song.
That you were blissfully youthfully singing “Spirit in The Sky”, and the others you mentioned in churches and standing on picnic tables. Cool!
All the BTS also explains how you burst on in the music scene on “Blue Skies”, and “Tribute”, bc you had all this experience already.
Far out! “Blue Skies” blew my mind in the 90’s bc you’re so happy in so much of it, yet also depth. I hadn’t heard a lot of real Joy in Christian music before. Got saved January 1992, got married in August of that year & the church wanted us to burn barrel all our old music & stuff (Hubby’s music & his music collection.) It was a sacrifice to God, but also looking back kindof a bummer. The church we were at was kind of legalistic, not Baptist level-but close. Anyways so that just left CCM. Your music, & Kevin Max’s stuff with DC Talk was some joy & sanity. So, thanks for that.

    1. thanks so much for your insights and listenin to my early stories! haven’t heard anyone use the word ..”has been NEAT” in a long time LOL love it were birds of a feather ‘Anna mom o’…LOL

  6. Dug the recount. I recall going to church with my mother every Sunday. Naracoorte Presbyterian had an organ, so the pastor’s wife was the organist and the choir comprised of members who, in my young imagination, would be best to choose another vocation rather than singing. “Not knockin’ the hymns, but give me a beat that moves my feet” was a song that I discovered soon after stepping into the Kingdom around 1976. Got my attention.
So listening to this Nutshell sermon brought back some fond memories.
