Fighting desires to do,say or catch ourselves thinking things we shouldn’t is probably the hardest battle we face. God doesn’t give more than we can bare, just as he set limits for Satan when testing Job.
I think we give the devil too much credit for our own short comings. the devil made me do it. I think in a times that’s a cop out for our own lack of self control. Which sometimes I have none, specially when it comes toy mouth and others stupidity
Hi MK.. thanks for supporting my efforts in a good direction.. notice yer the only one to comment on this… I musta stepped on too many toes… nobody whats to think about it that’s for sure
Sorry I’m late to your nuts cracking conversation. Know my Lunatic Friend that I am also a fellow festering fool.
Begging your pardon, but Jesus never promised us a rose garden eh? The thorns can be warnings for us to be careful and stay away from danger, or risk getting pricked and horribly infected.
While pondering the pastors preaching today, that INXS song “Devil Inside” crossed my mind. When I looked up the lyrics later, I realized that even secular bands acknowledge that there’s a battle going on to make a choice between good and evil. What really stunned me was when I read that initially INXS actually considered being a Christian band (well according to the internet eh)!?
God only knows how that might’ve turned out for all of them …
We’d all do well to heed the advice of Gino Vannelli, “Don’t give the devil the time of day, Don’t you give him the room or an inch to play … “
Sorry in advance for mistakes, can’t see well just now…and maybe that’s an apt statement in more than one way. My thorns over the years seem to pull me up short, literally, from time to time. They may vary in kind but not in effect. all my daily work, whether private or for others just gets stopped. This time so literally it’s hard to miss: 2 weeks hospitalized in total isolation for some infection I caught at the hospital doctors office! Ironic ?!
Punishment? I don’t think so. I think it was a warning about being too busy with to spend enough quiet regular time with the Word and prayer, personal private time in His Presence. It took a couple of days to get it…I can be slow that way. Don’t get me wrong: I am NOT saying the Lord made me sick, but He could have prevented it, as He has so often before. Sometimes I just have to learn the hard way….
Oh, and thanks for the greeting.
WELL LOOK WHO”S HERE! LOL yer sounding like me all the way around. recovering for torn rotator cuff and now discovering hearing loss.. “God coulda prevented it” said that before! you must be on the mend great to hear from ya.. yer boy talks to me often!
I do not believe you are continually being punished for your sins because all of us have fallen short of the glory of God and if we think we haven’t, then we are way further away than we think. ” My Grace is enough” is a hard gig. The solution is still drawing closer to Him and humbling ourselves before Him.
So glad I heard you on the “Caregiver show” this morning. I have been in those shoes in the past and will most likely fill them again someday as my wife and I are both 80 years old.
wow thanks.. I missed the show.. on the west coast it was 5 a.m. hang around here most of my listeners are takin notes about our final years! lets find more silver linings in the dark clouds! thanks for commenting
