Sorry that happened to you. Can’t people just leave some things alone? Apparently not. Move forward, not backwards. Here’s hoping the rest of your week is better. Big hug!

Trolls online are a real thing, some people aren’t happy unless others who shine are made to be unhappy.
Look and check accounts who are bludgeoning your sunshine, on X look at their account how many followers when they made their account, & Where the account originates from. Most of the pesky negative ones are bots/fake accounts with no face that lines up with who they are irl, & originate outside of the country. Mute the ones who bother you or who are just completely offensive, & Block the truly terrible ones. You don’t need to take on their fake negative energy. Maybe pray: “Go with God.”
You don’t have to and cannot fix everyone, & not everyone wants to be fixed.
Your energy goes to feeding yourself on God’s word, ministering to your wife, writing, & some relaxing activities like X (in manageable doses, & rest. Rinse, & repeat. Grandchildren visits, Birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, & it’s enough.
Don’t let the turkeys get you down. You’re Eagle material. You’ve already proven you have the chops, your singing is still top shelf.
Sometimes it’s good to sit & realize: “my lot has fallen in pleasant places.” It’s enough.
Brennan Manning, I almost read that book. Something like, “the ragamuffin gospel” right?
What I always think about in terms of things in my past that I’m ashamed of, is that if it wasn’t for Jesus Christ I would be so much worse. And the only reason I’ve been a bit of a train wreck since I’ve known Him is that He takes me to those places where I need Him so I can learn about him in that place. He allows me to go to places of loneliness, so I can learn that I’m not lonely because of him. He’s allowed me to drift into sinful places so I can learn to choose Him rather than that sin. Daily I’m confronted with my idols, so I can learn not to idolize them anymore. I think it’s refreshing to get to the place where you realize you really don’t have it all together, but somehow because of God, it’s all okay.
I knew Brennan Manning ..thought he was a mad man first time I heard him in person.. very tormented .. but his own alcoholism early on.. Ragamuffin Gospel is a top ten read in my life time
Well Bryan, all I can say is that I moved so much in the last 5 years that I left behind almost all the people who were annoyingly judging me by calling me down. Also I’ve made it a point to be honest with the people I know now. I offer them a pleasant cooperative disposition and respect. I reckoned with myself and breathe in, then out, and think they’re “Secrets.” (a change of words works for me…)
Isn’t it enough sometimes that not only do you still fill rotten about past sins that you already repented to GOD about but somebody still for whatever reason will still take a shot at you anyway . I guess in this life there will always be some who view you still looking in your rear-view mirror on stuff already behind you as if you are still there. I don’t care a whole lot about BACKWARD LOOKING people as far as taking what they say of really any significance anyway . Our greatest problems can sometimes be when we let these people live rent free in our minds that it effects the way we live and move. Sure there are things that we now wish we could have done better or not done depending on what actually happened, that comes without saying. The itch of trying to get the” WHAT DONE REALLY HAPPEN WAS “side out is tremendously tempting to scratch! This may be hard but necessary, to try not to embellish some past events in a better light when you really know the truth and see it now more clearly. Now if someone just plainly don’t know the whole truth on something that happened back in the day and they constantly lie about something that they have no facts on, only then should that matter need to be addressed truthfully . If privately blabbed then privately dealt with but if publicly exposed then publicly dealt with ! I hate that we feel we gotta take up the position to be our own “PR” persons ! Someone got to be the cop sometimes in this situation and be able to say ” MOVE ALONG AIN’T NOTHING TO SEE HERE ” that’s already been Forgiven !
Thanks for bringing up Brennan. My favorite author. I had the same response as you when I heard him speak one time in my college years. I didn’t get it. Years later God would lead me to the waters he was drinking from. The essence of who he was and is still echos in the depths of my soul. His life story is a profound representation of the reality of God and His infatuation with us. I sometimes reflect on the fact that Brennan’s struggles were apparently essential to give him eyes to see the shocking Love of our Father. I’m still basking in the glow… I have a profound God-story connected to Brennan. Amazing in my view. Maybe one day I’ll have a chance to tell you.
Hey Steve.. love to hear it.. you can send it email to me not sure where you are in the country.. but Brennan’s book Ragamuffin was attitude altering for me

To be honest, I had to really think about sins I’ve had cause they’re far in the past…if they’re not in the past, they’re secrets.
