Smooth bluesy music with melancholy lyrics blend so well together. You’re so accurate when it comes to strong emotions, either sad or happy. We need more songwriters like you, Bryan, who take the time to get it ✅️
I love this song. I am taken back to hearing Robin Sullivan on WMUZ in Detroit in the late 80s. She was so enthusiastic about the music and you could tell she was really into this song. Flash forward to today, I find myself in a catechism class which I attended at the beginning of this week. I was told that the main goal of catholicism was to work toward hopefully being accepted into heaven. Perhaps I misunderstood something but I have had to come to terms with the fact that my faith is absolutely everything to me and the thought that I would not be allowed in to heaven for any reason is unacceptable. Dozens of Scriptures come to mind that tell me I am grafted in, adopted, a fellow citizen with the saints and of the household of God. What does that have to do with this song? It suddenly becomes very powerful to hear the words “I believe a price was paid.” It is finished. And I never again have to worry about whether I will get into heaven or not. I have never questioned it before and I think it might be a good idea to drop out of the catechism class. But not before enlightening the teacher with what the Bible actually says.
that is why Martin Luther nailing the truth on the Wittenburg Door started the reformation.. he suggested we read the Bible for ourselves rather than trusting someone else to tell you! yer on track! btw
I don’t mean to eavesdrop. I grew up in the Catholic Church, but I won’t go into details of my coming to the Lord. Basically, I started going to a Christian coffee house. The people who were singing and giving testimony and my friends who walked me through the Bible showed me that there was no way I could do enough to get to heaven by doing all the things we’re supposed to do. That would mean I was working for my salvation, but Jesus died for my sins and took care of my salvation once and for all. Anyway, looking through the word and finding the answers is the best way.
B, this song gets me every time. From the first time hearing it 40 years ago and still today it does wonderful things in the heart .All us shellians man know what your songs do to us and when we hear them we know who inspired your gift ! When I hear this song right here a full understanding comes to mind when people say ” Let HIM use you” man I’m so glad you did whether or not at that time you fully understood the impact this song would have on many ! I’m really hoping the younger ones coming up will get a chance to feel the heart of many of your songs like this one cause when they do it will touch them like it did us !
So sad longing for cure from pain and suffering. A plea to God for His healing hands. It’s a funny thing this weekend that my nerve pain started and I was glad… glad I could Feel Something! Joy and happiness is the opposite…I believe God’s healing is on it’s way for me!
A real story of experience in song – inner thoughts of the heart pouring out. A tender psalm Mr D. Well written. These written from the heart are authentic and real. Draws the listener into the story with you……
A counselor I had said I’d feel better if I could spend time outside of here away from all the hurting people. I’m not able to now,…I can do activities up here on my own. I love art and doing it, drawing, painting, coloring is the best occupational therapy there’s! There’re plenty of things to help neurological issues. The best part is producing something truly worth it. Now see who I’m talking to? YOU ♥️ the prince of ideas and production of wonderful beautiful art for yourself and all others who want and need it! Bless you Bryan and just keep writing and playing…I’ll listen along with the nutshellians, who include my counselor and Baptist pastor who think Bry Baby is great! Just keep going my friend it looks good to have YOU in my support group!!!
There are people I think about who are going through things that I can’t imagine. You and Cassie are one of those couples. You exemplify love in sickness and in health. You never know what’s going to happen, but when something does happen, God’s strength is the only way to be able to stick with it and love on the person with all your heart. Continuing to pray for you and Cassie.
