Thanks for sharing Bryan, this really hits home. You had great insights when you were young and certainly wrote songs that touched so many people. One thing I might add is living in the present day to day is finally accomplished cause it’s overhauled leaving what was higher ground washed away by floods and tropical trees gone up in flames. In other wards, we’re constantly homeless! People like those in search of medical treatment have more than medicine cures, like physical therapy, surgery, insurance, $$$. Our generation grew up believing a millionaire would be made for life with plenty left for kids. Wow! The last decade has been a shock! People also assumed they’d have the same career. You’re very blessed Bryan cause your dad was an evangelist and you’re a musician! Life lessons !
I really like the color cover! Yes I’ve had friends and loved ones breathe their last breath (exhale) as I sat by their bedside. I always thought about the lyrics to this song…. that brought hope & comfort while simultaneously experiencing great emotional pain.
The lyrics to this song are very emotional and moving. I want to praise you for being the kind of person who is caring, devoted and compassionate to the people who need you most. You share your life’s joys and difficulties with us and you don’t have to. You reply to every comment on here without fail. How you manage to do everything you do is beyond me. You are a true example of God’s love on this Earth. I’m honored to call you my friend!
Wow kind words.. guy that picked me up when I came home .. went to the wrong airport.. I sat at the curb in ONT for an hour waiting for him to come back from Palm Springs airport! LOL .. got home a 3 A.M>
This was one of my favorite nutshell sermons so far. I recently decided to embark on the huge project of reviewing all my homemade cassette tapes. I highly recommend this to anyone who has mysterious tapes from back in the day. Among other things, I found songs I had written that I forgot about, and now intend to collaborate with my former self from 30+ years ago as it is so much easier to record and present such songs now. Time changes the perspective on things and can also make you more objective. I wonder if you (Bryan D) also feel inclined to give back to that brilliant young man who had no idea what life would be like in his 70s. It makes sense to serve him somehow, seeing as he was such a good guy with so much integrity and will to serve God at any cost. Likewise, my own ambitions as a songwriter have shifted away from creating to letting my songs come out of hiding and serve the purposes of God as they were likely meant to do in the first place. I guess you could say they have taken on a new kind of power with the current times.
Hey Mr D. Thanks for taking the time to provide the story behind the lyrics of some of your pertinant songs. Filled with ponderings of your inner man that become as a sermon in song. I relate to these much better than sitting listening to a preacherman dispensing instruction from a pulpit.
You are doing it well. Keep at it in your Senior Partner Holy Spirit’s power in life union with the Triune Creator God………
I’ve always believed that there are no coincidences, no irony in God. It was intentional that this came up in my feed on the morning of my first appointment with surgical oncology. In a nutshell–God, I see you. And thanks for your obedience to bring this word, B. You are appreciated.
