  1. I was born in 1968 during the curfew for MLK’s death, on April 9th. I was born the day he was buried. I like to think maybe I was the great Martin Luther King reincarnated as a little baby white girl. Anything is possible. I also felt different from others as a child. It was puzzling at the time, but now commonly labeled, neuro-diversive. There seems to be a lot of study in this area right now .

      1. Well it’s not going too well so far, lol. I’ve never even been to a protest. That being said, I’m not sure how much I believe in the teachings of MLK. After all, he is one of the ones who taught us not to fight.

  2. Thank you for sharing the stories of your life with us Nutshellians. That photo is priceless. Brings a whole new meaning to “twinkling the ivories”. God had a plan all along for you—putting you in the right place at the right time. Spreading the Word to people through your music and devoting yourself to those you love. You’re a true servant of God.

  3. Brilliant recount of your musical influences Mr D. I can relate to your comments on the 60s and early 70s. Very hope filled times as I recall – Woodstock Generation – Jesus Movement…..Larry Norman “Upon This Rock” etc. The first pastor I experienced as a new believer held to the view “Rock music is of the devil”. So you can guess what happened to my cherished cassette collection. He introduced me to Andrae Crouch and the Disciples. So to honor him, I accepted the cassette, played it but quit after the second song and stuck Status Quo back on. Good groove man. But for a good buddy who handed me Larry Norman’s In Another Land. Stuck it on and bingo!! This guy plays my musical lingo with Kingdom lyrics and life experiences to boot. Never been the same since….Rez Band, Stryper……But at 71 years old, swingjng right back to the Jesus Movement stuff and the 1980s CCM. Your solo works included up to present day. And SCB. Awesome.
Looking forward to owning a copy of Iron Sharpens Iron and cranking it up…..
Thanks fer reading this right through.
    Blessings Mr D. An honor.

      1. Well, that is Papa God in the lead, so there are a few more surprises yet to discover with the Three……

  4. Your mother was amazing…saw something creative and wonderful in you. She gave you the”fishing” music lessons father’s gave their sons…how to catch fish for life. She’s also very beautiful as she’s looking at you with loving eyes.

  5. Hey Bryan, thanks for sharing. Amazing what gets mixed together in our lives, all having influence on where we’ve been, and where we are now. Keep sharing those memories! Made me smile.
