  1. Wow. ” I prefer incarnations because they hold up better than roses.”? I’m slow it took me a second. Ha! Wow…she bursted into tears? Heavy stuff on her heart.

  2. Yeah big words just proves ya read the dictionary. I think the school of hard knocks is the best teacher. A bit of common sense and the simple understanding of faith is a great starting point. I do the occasional presentation for work, I was taught when preparing, know who your target audience is. Sometime its better to dumb it down and reach everybody rather than the lone professor in the crowd. Didn’t he say suffer the little children to come to me? No big words…

      1. I actually sang you are my sunshine to my wife in front of a gathering. Needless to say it was a flop. She got up and left the room as red as a tomatoe. Surprised she married me LOL

        1. LOL… that song was big before I was born.. surprised yer honey even heard o the song.. btw in college my freshman year… I had to stand on the table in the cafeteria and sing “I’m a little Teapot” LOL for initiation week ! LOL

  3. After almost six decades of struggling to understand and communicate the meaning and message of difficult passages of scripture, I’ve spent the past three years doing as much comparison as my brain can handle between a couple dozen translations plus commentaries and a couple paraphrase versions to shock me out of old patterns of thought. My goal is to be able to explain in plain language the underlying messages in a way my unchurched and underchurched friends will understand and receive, while still being faithful to the original texts. It can be daunting. As always, I appreciate you Bryan! God bless!

    1. sure.. just look at whats coming out of America’s top Colleges! Sad really “professing themselves to be wise they became fools” and then there’s long term Christians ‘deconstructing’ to their own demise

  4. It’s not easy to learn all the theological words…I belong to a small outreach church through a Baptist church….we only hear sermons that pertain to our small outreach..it’s not a huge church and I like that! I like being able to ask questions and have opportunities to fellowship with members…I know they wouldn’t laugh if I didn’t know all those big words…but explain them…lol

  5. SOMETIMES I GUESS IT’S NECESSARY TO HAVE THOSE EXEGITICALS AND HERMENUTICALS AS GUARDRAILS TO KEEP US FROM CAREENING OFF INTO SOME RABBIT HOLE OF THOUGHT OR UNDERSTANDING THAT WAS NEVER INTENDED . IT GETS DARK IN THOSE RABBIT HOLES SO THEY SAY SO IN ORDER NOT TO GET CAUGHT SLIPPING DOWN ONE WE GOTTA KEEP EXOGEETING A LITTLE BIT . EVEN WITH ALL THE GREAT KNOWLEDGE AND BIG FANCY UNPRONOUNCEABLE WORDS WE KNOW AND USE WOULDN’T IT BE NICE IF WE CAN JUST GO BACK AND KEEP IT AS SIMPLE AS JESUS LOVES ME THIS I KNOW FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO ? GREAT STORY ABOUT YOU AND PASTOR EATING LUNCH BY THE WAY !

    1. Exogeeting! I like it ima use it later when I’m feelin super spiritually insightful! LOL and thanks That pastor is actually a captain in the Salvation Army, heads up the S.A. Recovery program! His name is Sylvan Young!

  6. Not disagreeing with you about using big words just to show off, BUT, without growth in knowledge and understanding of what the Bible says it is easy to twist words and phrases leading to absolute lies about God. Seems lots of well meaning people are creating their own religions by picking and choosing what parts of the Bible they use. I truly think sometimes it is done because they lack the biblical education to fully see the importance of all scripture. We need pastors, preachers and scholars in the church to be complete.

      1. Oh, you are such a dag!!! Had me in stitches, and yes, I looked up the meaning in Miriam Webster before I listened. I frequently view Chuck Missler’s bible studies on YouTube and he is definitely Exogetic, but I love it. I am in the OT and now up to Habakuk and find each time I read the bible through, it is slower and slower because now I want more meaning and context. And he deliver in volume. He also uses many multisyllabic words that I have to stop the vid and look up, but it enhances both my vocab and understanding, exactly what I am looking for.

  7. Also, if you are really angry with someone, don’t descend to using words with only one syllable. Slap ’em .with those with three or four. Works for me.
