I listened to this song for a second time. Love the horns in the background. My dad was a horn player so any song that includes horns has got my attention. Thanks for sharing your explanations of your songs. Relaxed and gettin’ sleepy on the back row where I’m never dismissed.
Hi PC.. my uncle was a trombone player LOL .. glad I dint take that one up.. wanted to take trumpet lessons in grade school but couldn’t afford the horn
Heard something completely different! Way I heard in album version…frustrated, exaggerating and pleading…words slightly slurred, about relationship opposed to bikes…lol (one of my faves)…I guess you already said that?
My mistake… music not lyrics…love the music and chord progression…blends perfectly with the lyrics…genius songwriting, that’s you, my special friend ❤️.
Really cool song in so many different ways. I like the double meaning on “the preaching is easy you better believe it.” Over the 40 years I was following leaders in the Protestant church I can’t tell you how many times someone would give a great message and then be rude in person. Leaders need to be careful who they’re dissing because the Bible says in as much as you’ve done it on to one of the least of these you’ve done it unto me. For this reason alone I have always been careful how I treated every single person. I think on judgment Day we’re all going to be very surprised as the truth is rolled out and we can see who did and didn’t truly believe God, and truly follow him. I’m not saying I’m perfect at all, but it helped me a lot when I was treated badly to know that God would take care of things one day.
sometimes I don’t think I wanna know what I got wrong about the circumstances and the people.. it’s been disheartening lately just hearin things in the news that you thought were true and find out .. oh there was nothin about that to be believed..
BK thanks for sharing the feedback…it’s been a long day of removing bogus charges on my cell….my counselor helped do it yesterday…it’s treading water for me in nutshell today…keep going back and forth to fb and bank! Thanks for picking up my bubble-head comments…Bryan knows me too well! (I can’t do the math either) i offer him encouragement and fellowship for his support!
B , I was pleasantly surprised on listening to this song again ! I always like the groove it had and the message to it was conveyed nicely but the thing that pops for me in this song now is the voice of one giving the narrative along with the singing WHO IS THAT ? He is nice with it ! That whole thing right there is genius. Super nice touch in the making of this song ! I read some of the comments and you know what B, our Nutshellian fam are outstanding with their insights on things and I feel the same way on a lot of their comments. One particular comment resonated with me where the person mentioned a good message given by one only to find that same person to be rude. Unfortunately this is becoming to common in society as a whole and like you when I watch the news sometimes and am shocked at the level and length some will go to do what they want to do . Now that we are finding out so much went down that we are now finding out about it is so disheartening . Some how and I hate to say it but it will probably come out that all the untruths we are finding out about now was basically behind that old OJAY song ” MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY” ! and their love for it !
I love this track! Brilliant songcraft, as always. I need to dig deeper into your ‘didn’t get airplay’ file. I don’t typically do ‘favorite albums’ lists, but Anonymous Confessions remains one of my all time favorites; by any Artist. I recall when I first heard it; and subsequently wore it out. It all seemed next level in every sense. That was before I came to realize that you had Jeff Porcaro and Nathan East in the studio for much of it. Your genius combined with that singular powerhouse off a rhythm section! Two of my sons are musicians; one a bassist and the other a drummer. Both cut their teeth on those guys, and of course your music influenced them (and myself) since their earliest days when I would take them to your live performances. Certainly, you still do.
