  1. Scoot over on that back row, my Lunaticfriend, my crush on depression is “crush..‘ession” me

        1. LOL you know I used to have a recorded introduction for live concerts done in Elmer Fudd’s voice “Wadies and Gentowmen, Pwease wewcome Bwyan Duncan.. LOL

  2. Love this spin on “ having a crush on depression “
    I’m guilty as well .
    Why community is so important.
Because other often just causes a tailspin or I call it a downward spiral!

  3. Oh man, seriously!! I do not like breaking off long term relationships, lol. I’d rather just curl up in the back row and take a nap while ignoring the sermon-it SEEMS easier that way.

  4. As I grow older and hopefully wiser, I learn the value of hearing the still small voice of God. Tragedy can really through you off balance and into an abyss. Really hard to know God loves you at those times. I have learned and appreciate the value of others praying for me and in those times, as desperately hard as it is, making a rational decision that the God of Love is, and that He can see me through the chaos. More lessons recently learned.

  5. Interesting how you mentioned “tail spin” I took some flying lessons and when a pilot stalls the plane where one wing looses lift, it can start a spin. What I have learned is if you find yourself in a spin, You apply full rudder in the opposite direction of the spin. Kinda like you said where we are depressed or going through trails, we apply the opposite in praise to God and all that He has done for us. Soon enough we can pull out of it and get straight and level flight once again. Maybe that was a stretch but ….well.

    1. Hi Ralph! thanks might a said a few things I coulda said better. you example of getting out of a tail spin sound like what you do on the road to correct a side slide too.. turn the wheels into the slide opposite of what I’m prone to do

  6. Hey Bryan, your nutshell sermons remind me a bit of Butch Pluimer who used to give little “sermonettes” on KYMS the radio station here in So Cal. Little short nuggets of God’s wisdom. I’m sure he’s still doin’ it in Heaven with the saints up there. Keep up the great work!!

  7. Philiping. New word. Yeah depression vs joy. Darkness vs light. Can’t have one without the other. Need to look for joy and happiness in the little things cause world is doing everything to “Bring me down”. ELO.. a lot of eccl. Good for the soul..

  8. I just came across the Nutshell sermons and binge listened to every episode.

I’ve been a follower of BD since the early 1980’s, when I gave my life to Christ. He is by far my favorite Christian artist. Not only because of his tremendous talent (what an incredible voice), but his transparency, yes, transparency! Isn’t that an important quality? Of course, that was more of a statement than a question. I’ve always felt like the church, e.g. “certain Christian music companies, certain churches, certain “Christian’s”, etc., you get the point, who have cancelled BD throughout his career wasn’t Christlike, but rather showed their lack of it. It was a bit selfish and self-serving, if you ask me.

At any rate, those in my life that were the most impactful, in terms of change for the better, were transparent to me. If you’re not, I’ll walk away. Otherwise, it’s quite a waste of time listening to them.

This sounds like a “prayer you won’t hear in church”, LOL! I love you BD and appreciate you being real. I know God does too!

    1. Wow Michael, didn’t see this comin’ .. high praise. can’t imagine listen to all the episodes in a binge.. I start finding my own voice irritating .. that’s why I usually only do 2 minutes at time! Welcome to the “Nut Pod” as someone coined it! and thanks for the kind words
