Wow, this takes me back to the 80s when I was becoming a born again Bible reading Christian. Some friends had a home Bible study and as I was new to scripture reading, they taught me Bible roulette! It seemed to be the way to pray…like the crazy 8-ball that you shake and a message appears on the bottom. I connected the two, but didn’t tell my friends for fear of being dismissed. So I went to a Baptist University and Wow! Was that a wealth of knowledge. I could fellowship with anyone anytime including profs, deans, convocation guests, and read the Bible book by book. I promised God that if he got me through graduation, I would write for Him…my commentator for your support, my special friend ❤️ it’s a great launch for my retirement years..Juliette Duncan, the Australian novelist, writes fantastic Christian romance series about mature adults living in Australia.
I’m wingin’ it with the Holy Spirit, too. I feel my odds are very good. How do you continually come up with these Nutshell Sermons? They really are amazing! Thank you for taking your time to put them together. I don’t always feel like I’m measuring up to some of the other comments that are made on here because your followers seem to be better versed than me and I tend to get off course—these Nutshellians are smart! I’ll be the first to admit, school wasn’t my forte. I was glad when it was over. I’m just me. God is the pilot I’ve been trusting for a very long time. Today I’m looking cool wearing Ray-Ban Aviator glasses and a bomber jacket on the back row where I’m never dismissed. ‘Till next time…
I have long periods of time where I feel like ‘this has to be my last nutshell” lol not sure where or why they keep coming.. maybe cause there’s a lot of annoyances to over come.. in this case it was just memories first
Wait, so ignorance really is bliss?
The advancements in medical sciences have in some ways been more harmful than good. Side effects, gender swapping etc etc. So yeah I think in a lot of ways, sometimes better to leave well enough alone.
Then again if you break a rule or a commandment and you didnt know its a commandment , you’re still guilty. So maybe better to learn the basics and walk accordingly. I do like the concept schools out forever.
Never heard of Bible Roulette, but come to think of it, I did it not knowing that’s exactly what I was doing. And man o man, did I get myself into spiritual warfare?!?!?! Things got so crazy, I’m too embarrassed to tell it on here!! LOL my Bible got to where it opened up to the same scripture every time, even when somebody else opened it LOL so I guess, I was trying to get all of them to play it!! LOL thank God I know better now…I think… that should make you feel better, knowing somebody else did something just as dumb if not worse. And trust me, it was worse LOL
we also had a game called Sword Drill.. someone calls out a scripture reference.. and its a race to see who finds it first in the Bible and starts reading it LOL
As I was listening I was just sure you were gonna come up with something about dogs returning to their vomit or some such thing. But I liked yours much better. Bible Roulette can be very dangerous…
You really got me laughing today. One reason is you’re one of the best singers I know. But I guess that would take a lot of effort to sing great on every occasion. Anyway, I can always find a way to relate my own experiences to what you have to say for the day. As much as I love the Bible, I’ve learned to follow a path where I’m not as perfect as I otherwise would require of myself. I mean, God must really love it when we spend so much time trying to understand what everything means. And throughout my 40 years or so studying the word I always wondered why others didn’t seem to love the Bible as much. But I’ve also discovered that trusting him a lot of times means understanding that he’s got me covered when I’m not so perfect. I frequently fear that day when I will face him and have to see the truth about everything. Maybe I’ll just find out that he was laughing all along. And maybe we’ll just have a good laugh together.
