People love to quote Jeremiah 29:11. But they ignore the going into captivity part. Which was God’s plan for them for awhile.
Many just pick and choose the Scriptures they like and ignore the hard parts. But going through the hard things helps us grow and learn how to depend on God and appreciate the good times.
I sure appreciate you SFOM. I love your babbling.
I was, literally the minute before listening to this, thinking about the myriads of souls locked out of the marriage supper of The Lamb because they couldn’t obey God’s simplest command to love their neighbors, perplexed why they’d want to spend eternity with the easiest people to love-those that loved their enemies.
Well, I think that is a little jaundiced. I am reading Jeremiah, and Ironically, I must have passed over that famous verse as I am now on chapter 20. I have to believe in the hope of that verse and other verses of hope. i found it interesting that you recalled the verse about planting a garden. Where is that? You know, it is rumoured that the Hanging Gardens of Babylon were designed and overseen by a catptive Judean. I believe that prosperity and fulfilment verse will be seen in your lifetime…. and mine, hopefully.
Hi Jamie, there’s so many translations now I have to read several to make sure I’m not too far of the implications but sometimes I like to find sarcasm even if its not there! ROFL keeps me entertained! LOL
Jer 29:1-14 was highlighted to me in my teens- you know, when you have no clue where you’re headed in life, but it’s encouraging to think God does. Funny I never really heard the preceding “lead you into captivity” part. Thing is, nowadays I find THAT encouraging. It means He’s not surprised by my circumstances and fully intends to utilize them to His best advantage- for my good even! Also appreciate seeing the promise for the future generations- seems like we Americans these days don’t have much of a long-term, generational view. Live for the moment/myself.
Thanks again for thought-provoking insights.

Well I pretty much agree. This not our home, but we are headed there. Jesus said In this world you will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome.
