SCB’s First Recording “Golden Ages”

SCB’s First Recording “Golden Ages”

Our first recorded song is “Golden Ages” on Marantha 5 *a compilation project of local Jesus music bands from Southern California

It dawns on me now that we recorded Golden Ages our first ever recording, before we added guitarist Randy Thomas.

  1. Thanks for the background trek into teenagers 70s…I really appreciate hearing it cause I hadn’t thought of my own for awhile but I know we all had music and cars to shape our world! And don’t forget style and hair! Those years were a lot simpler than now we just didn’t know it!Jesus did…

  2. Love these stories.
And the pictures from those days. You are the only one who had the rock star /singer flare.
    And many Randy lol

  3. I was more into folk Christian music and didn’t attend church regularly…the Christmas Easter group…at summer camp I went to church mountain on Sunday nights and learned a lot of spiritual song and fellowship…we had to walk a mile there and back…had campfire at night and listened to the continuing story of a camp counselor, they were the Janie stories and very popular…had a plot. I couldn’t believe how much I got from Sunday at camp…fried chicken mashed potatoes for lunch and we had to turn in a weekly postcard addressed to our folks…short and sweet hello late for lunch . Bye. These things made Sunday special!

  4. Great liner notes!
I opened for you guys at the concert in 1978 at the Palm Springs High School Auditorium. I went to the local Christian Bookstore the next day and bought Sweet Comforts first record(still have it in my record collection).
Since then I’ve seen you guys perform at the original UpperRoom and hung out with you at the back wall at the Love Song concert also at the UpperRoom.Such great memories!

  5. I think I maybe saw you with SCB when I was 20 in 1973 at a small church south of Houston…I was with Mt boyfriend who played the keyboards at the high school dance band…I crushed him cause his hair was long and curly and he was great musician! Trouble was too many probs both of us…anyways I’m not sure but after hearing about your experiences on the road in Texas this maybe you I saw…they wanted me to go back behind the alter but I didn’t want to…all those cults were around then and I didn’t trust anyone,…especially that guy I was dating…lol

  6. I’m a little behind on this one, but I have to say a huge AMEN to what you said at the end. We have lost so so much by eliminating ‘special’ music from our services. There is so much God given talent and testimony wasting away in the news. That used to be a big part of my church experience and contribution…haven’t contributed in that way for probably over 30 years. It’s a very sad loss for so many.

    1. I feel like CCM turned into a cul de sac… I just recorded a song called “Love So Sacred” aimed at Smooth Jazz, and Yacht Rock audience.. might be welcome over there.. they’re my age
