I love that you’re explaining the stories behind your songs. It’s fascinating to hear them. You’re so smart. I’m learning a lot from you. Thanks for making me smarter!
I understood it immediately!! Loved the base line. I could clearly, visually see what your lyrics were saying in my mind. I considered it a VERY POSITIVE ENCOURAGING SONG. I still do.
Love this song…reminds me of a time when I was younger…I would stay out late, realize the time, and hurry to get home before it was pitch black and I couldn’t see. I always got in trouble with my parents doing that. On a different plane, I considered depression as darkness and near suicide as the worst. When I was a young adult I experienced seasonal ups and downs 6 months high and 6 months low. It got worse until diagnosed as bipolar depression…that was awful…after that anxiety…and I realized it was the meds I was taking and not me. I stopped and just call it anxiety now which is the most uncomfortable…a doctor explained what it was….experienced bad and can’t get mind off it. One said when you have an emotion describe it in a sentence. What I do is see if it’s happening if not dismissing as just a feeling and go on. If something isn’t happening, why worry? I’ve been in therapy as long as you have Bryan and learned that trusting yourself is the most important
Just found this. It’s loaded so I’ll have to listen again. But for now, the concept of death and darkness is interesting to me. I’m always wondering how to use it to minister to people who are suicidal (too many) because it is only when I get to the place of being able to truly 100% let go if everything in my life, including my life, that I am able to follow God and go with whatever he has, or does not have for me. And it is very freeing. I wrote a song which people surprisingly showed some interest in called “take my life.” My favorite line in it is, “Help me let go of things not meant for me, all the things that I will never be.” Okay it’s not exactly on the Bryan D. level. But this is my two cents from the back row, which I like to think of as “the Church of the never dismissed.”
hey I like that too.. the church of the never dismissed.. I covered another song with that title “take My life.. and let it be.. consecrated Lord to thee” it’s on Quiet Prayers .. i don’t cover a lot songs
